Resolved to Become a Homeowner? Let’s Open The Door to Some Great Open Houses This Weekend

Share News:

While it’s still early in 2024, some of us haven’t even broken our New Year’s resolutions yet. Others — ahem — haven’t even started trying. Technically, that means they’re not broken, right? For some, the New Year’s promise to oneself was to become a homeowner in 2024. Big decision for sure, but ponder these reasons to make the jump:

  • Growing equity
  • Mortgage interest deduction on a tax return
  • A permanent address
  • Sense of stability
  • Paint the walls with your favorite color!

Other reasons exist, too, but our business here is not to convince anyone whether to make the purchase. Instead, CandysDirt.com is here to open some doors, virtually at least, for those of you ready to start shopping.

With a three-day weekend on the calendar, there’s time to house hunt, grocery shop, and do laundry.

2214 Daniel Street, Fort Worth

This tidy house was built in 2022.

This one’s under $300,000 and under 10 minutes to downtown Fort Worth.

Built in 2022 and sitting on a corner lot, this tidy house is listed at $285,000. Within its 1,534 square feet are three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Light-colored walls and plenty of windows make this living area light and bright.
A breakfast bar makes a space-saving spot to eat.

The white-trimmed windows flood the open floor plans with loads of natural light, while the recessed lighting is there for the nights. The kitchen has all the modern basics: a breakfast bar, granite countertops, and a walk-in pantry. Bonus for someone who wants to become a homeowner: the blinds stay.

Yes, the yard could use some landscaping, but what fun it would be to dig some holes and plant some green! Homeowners like doing things like that on weekends.

The house, listed by Mariela Borjon with Su Kaza Realty, will be held open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

3317 Overglen Drive, Garland

Built in 1976, this Garland house features some modern updates.

How many first-time homeowners get a swimming pool in the deal? Not many, but here you go.

This home, listed at $335,000, comes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one in-ground swimming pool. Landscaping is lacking at this house, but maybe the pool was just too much fun to worry about flower beds.

Gray, white, and black are the colors of this house.
A free swimming pool comes with the purchase of this home.

The house’s 1,634 square feet have been updated with a gray, black, and white palette, a nice complement to the home’s brick exterior. Built in 1976, the home has more modern features, such as the kitchen backsplash and some luxury vinyl plank flooring. A fireplace adds a nice focal point to the living area, and the French doors make an upscale exit to the backyard … where the pool is.

This house will be held open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and is listed by Rick Barrera with Ultima Real Estate.

6425 Boone Drive, Rowlett

A part of the Homestead at Liberty Grove community, this townhouse was built in 2020. It comes with a close proximity to the President George Bush tollway and plenty of shopping. It’s 40 minutes to downtown Dallas, 22 minutes to downtown Plano and 14 minutes to Lake Ray Hubbard.

Listed at $349,900, the townhome’s 1,588 square feet features a carefree lifestyle for anyone who wants to become a homeowner. Its open floor plan spans the living area, dining space, and kitchen on the first floor.

A sliding door opens to the backyard with artificial turf — no mowing! Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, two full baths, and a loft that can be used as a home office if work-from-home is an option.

The stylish kitchen opens to the living space.
Living area, dining space, and kitchen are downstairs, while the staircase leads to the bedrooms and office upstairs.

Extra touches give the house more oomph than expected for a starter home. Check out the mahogany front door, a herringbone backsplash, the first floor’s wood flooring, and granite kitchen counters. Need a pool? There’s a community one that’s not yours to clean.

From 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, this townhouse will be held open by agent Karen Wydra with Ebby Halliday Realtors.
