Dads Will Fall in Love with These DeSoto Lawns

For this Father’s Day edition of Suburb Sunday, I’ve decided to focus on the most important aspect of homeownership for dads across the country. For centuries, suburban Sunday mornings have been defined by the distinctive hum of the early morning mower. From Hank Hill to Howard Cunningham, father figures and front lawns are the stuff of legend in American pop culture. It’s about time someone pays homage to this obsession, and what better day to do it?

I chose DeSoto for this piece because this quaint community has three ingredients that make for perfect lawns — space, sunshine, and suburban excellence. Located just south of Dallas, DeSoto is home to over 20,000 lawns. The city also fosters civic pride and appreciation for the environment with its Keep DeSoto Beautiful initiative. Through this, the Parks and Recreation Department encourages the planting and preservation of trees, flowers, plants, and shrubbery. Take one look at this town and you’ll see why so many are excited to call it home. Dads have certainly played a huge role in the aesthetic value of this area. Let’s have a look.

A Hilltop Home with Alluring Outdoor Views

336 Davis Drive

  • 3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms
  • 1,780 Square Feet
  • $379,000

Our first home this week not only features an immaculate front lawn but also incredible views of it. Built atop an elevated corner lot, 336 Davis Drive is a standout among its established neighborhood.

“I love this home because it’s on a gorgeous corner lot and sits up on a hill,” said Ken Valencia with Team Bishop Renovations. Ken and his partner Cody Ellison completely renovated this home to complement its breathtaking surroundings.

“We took advantage of the outdoor space and views by building out several big windows in the home. This allowed us to leverage the natural light and create a space that’s bright, open, and inviting,” said Ken. “The bay window in the dining room especially takes advantage of that beautiful front lawn view.”

A Golf Course Gem with a Great View of The Green

1919 Nelson Court

  • 2 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms
  • 1,920 Square Feet
  • $424,900

This one isn’t technically lawn-related but there is a lot to love about the green space this home backs up on. Any dad would absolutely love the putting green proximity of this pristine traditional.

“This is a great home with an excellent view of Thorntree Golf Club,” said listing agent Melissa Mcclain with Coldwell Banker Realty. “It’s in a perfect location in an exclusive community and offers impeccable backyard views, especially from the second-story balcony.”

And while the lawn itself isn’t exactly massive, it makes up for it with low maintenance. Therefore, dad can spend more time on the greens and less time tending them.

A DeSoto Home With a Beautiful Backyard

1400 Richards Circle

  • 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms
  • 2,786 Square Feet
  • $405,000

The last home this week features not only a beautiful front lawn but also an incredible backyard.

“There is a lot of foliage around this home, which is really refreshing, especially in the suburbs,” said listing agent Brittany Ballard with Canzell Realty. “Walking outside, you feel as though you’re in your very own exotic jungle. The neighborhood itself offers so much peace quiet but being at this some adds an extra layer to that retreat feel.”

Of course, the inside is just as exceptional. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, this is a great home with plenty of space to spread out.

“The home has undergone some really nice updates. There’s a lot of space throughout and I think any dad would be proud to call this one home.”

Brittany Ballard with Canzell Realty will list 1400 Richards Circle for $405,000.
