Looking for a safe neighborhood, a good school district, and easy access to the city’s finest dining and shopping? You’ve come to the right place.

An Old Preston Hollow estate, a colorful bungalow on Orchid Lane, and a Town Creek treasure are featured in this week’s selection of open houses.

Dream Big in Old Preston Hollow

Dreams can come true in this idyllic $3 million beauty in Old Preston Hollow.

The four-bedroom, four-and-one-half-bathroom estate at 4342 Margate Drive will transport the new owner to the good life in an instant.

From the spiral staircase to the massive windows, backyard pool, and pristine white interior, this stunning home sits on a half-acre corner lot in the midst of one of the city’s finest and safest neighborhoods. The tree-lined neighborhood is surrounded by Rockbrook Estates, Lansdowne Estates, and Sunnybrook Estates.

Adjacent to the town of University Park, this area is considered the safest in Dallas.

Built in 2013 by Ellen Grasso & Sons, details include wood flooring arranged in a herringbone pattern, large formal living and dining rooms, and two private studies. An upstairs media room, wood-burning fireplace, and covered backyard cabana make this a great spot for Saturday night shindigs.

The kitchen features white tile and gray granite, two sub-zero refrigerators, two ovens, a warming drawer, a walk-in pantry, and a spacious island.

The large primary suite has a view of the pool and its own spa bath, walk-in closet, and marble dual vanities.

Realtor Shelle Carrig brokered by Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty is hosting open houses from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, and Saturday, Aug. 6.

Color Me Happy

The home at 6950 Orchid Lane is also in the North Dallas neighborhood of Preston Hollow

This ranch-style gem was built in 1969 with an open one-story floor plan showcasing hardwood floors, high ceilings, triple-pane windows, plantation shutters, and bay windows.

With four bedrooms and three-and-one-half bathrooms, the $1.6 million home offers luxury and practicality.

The updated chef’s kitchen features Viking appliances, customized local Ann Sacks tile, a butcher block island, and a walk-in pantry.

The pops of color throughout the home — soft mint green, royal blue, and deep purple — are reminiscent of a 1960s photo shoot.

The breakfast area opens to the patio, and the primary retreat has immediate access to the backyard pool. Lutron lighting and surround sound provide modern touches perfect for entertaining.

Realtor Pogir Pogir brokered by Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty is hosting an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 31.

Remodeled and Renovated

Nestled in the Town Creek neighborhood of Lake Highlands, the four-bedroom abode at 8809 Flint Falls was recently remodeled and renovated.

Ninety percent of the electrical and plumbing work was updated in 2018, and HVAC, windows, and doors were replaced.

Built in 1976, the $680,000 home features four en-suite bathrooms. The primary bedroom has a standalone shower and garden tub.

Floor-to-ceiling windows, modern finishes, flat-paneled cabinets, and satin nickel hardware decorate the home.

The kitchen features a six-burner GE Monogram gas range and hood. The living area has a wet bar, built-in wine refrigerator, vaulted ceilings, and a stone wood-burning fireplace. Smart appliances have been installed, and the home never loses power during winter storms because it shares a grid with the Dallas school district.

Realtor Randy Bell with Dallas Realty Resources is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30.

Margate and Orchid are both in DISD. I don’t know anybody who would consider that a good school district. Fortunately both of those houses are near fine private schools.
