This Preston Hollow Modern Spanish Colonial is a Beautiful Collaboration Between Robert Elliot And David Stocker

I didn’t immediately recognize this gorgeous modern Spanish Colonial when it popped up Friday. Although it looked vaguely familiar, I had to dive into our archives to see that, indeed, I’d written about it in 2017. It just shows how each owner can put their stamp on a home and transform it to where even I cannot recognize it instantly.

Of course, I will give a lot of credit to Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s listing agent, Pogir Pogir. He always has the best photography for his listings, and that alone can make a house look completely different.

I remember being deeply impressed with this modern Spanish Colonial when Robert Elliott built it in 2013. It’s an instantly recognizable design by David Stocker of SHM Architects. Stocker’s mastery of light and signature private and public courtyards coupled with Elliot’s exceptional construction is always a winning combination. The house was a head-turner in 2013 and 2017, but there is always additional refinement that takes it to a new level with each owner.

The present owners started by adding solid gates and columns to the front entrance. “It’s like a series of beautiful events to get to the front door,” Pogir said.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom house has 7,864 square feet now because the landing between the guest quarters and the main house was enclosed, a welcome addition for any guest.

One of the many things I find appealing about this modern Spanish Colonial is the four secondary bedrooms. I’ve never understood why kids’ rooms and guest rooms seem to be an afterthought. Consider why we love hotels so much. There is no denying it’s the fact you can eat in one queen-size bed and sleep in the other! Most of the secondary bedrooms in this home are large enough for a king-size bed or two queen-sized beds. This has to be a must-do for builders moving forward.

Landscaping and the outdoor entertainment area were also upgraded. The rear patio was retiled, and new outdoor lighting was installed.

“The backyard is designed for extreme entertainment,” Pogir said. That may be the new phrase builders must embrace because any backyard in this price range should be extreme entertainment-ready!

Pogir and Nora Kotub had 5807 Park Lane listed for $5.95 million. This is one of those rare live-in-ready homes I always gush about, so you won’t be surprised that within 24 hours of it going live it has a contract.

Let this be an example to every real estate professional. People want beautiful, expertly photographed, and perfectly designed or staged properties. It does not matter one bit how “hot” this market is and how little inventory is available.
