Angled, Open And Bright, This 1970s Brentfield Home Is Extra

I love the roof line of this house. I’m a sucker for 1970s construction and this one has such a dramatic entry. You could absolutely hang a pendant lamp over the front door, but I think these people nailed it by keeping it clean and clutter free.

Before the ooh and aah fest continues, let me tell you a little about this location. It’s in North Dallas and feeds into Brentfield Elementary. There’s a little pocket of 1970s construction up there.

It’s very interesting to drive north of Dallas, you can see how and when the suburbs expanded. Richardson is the home to a lot of 1950s homes, then North Dallas and into the heart of Plano you hit the 1970s and 1980s with 1990s in West Plano. Obviously, Frisco didn’t hit until the 2000s and it goes on from there. I’m sure this is a total no brainer, but something to keep in mind if there’s an era you love, now you know where to look.

But back to the little slice of angled delight at 16916 Old Pond Drive. It’s as cool on the inside as it is on the outside with soaring ceilings in the formal living, a killer original stone fireplace and gorgeous hardwood floors that were just refinished. The owners added fresh paint and carpet since moving out.

In the 1970s, you see a lot of split bathrooms like vanity then wall then other vanity. Or vanity-mirror separation-other vanity. In here they did it up right, there’s a passthrough shower separating the two vanities. How cool?!?

Another incredible feature of this home is the fully screened in sunroom with a ceiling fan. It’s not included in the 2,634 square feet listed, either so it’s a bonus. It’s a great outdoor space for kids to play, adults to lounge, and teens to sullenly fire up their Nintendo Switch.

The final thing Compass Real Estate’s Renee Rubin called out as a feature she loves is how deep the backyard is which is tough to come by in this neighborhood. Gorgeous grass for days and enough space to add a pool if you want.

If you’d like to take a look at 16916 Old Pond Drive, Rubin will be holding it open today, Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. both days. It’s listed at $675,000.
