Buy Emmitt Smith’s Home And He’ll Treat You to Dinner

Former Dallas Cowboys running back #22 Emmitt Smith has listed his Addison home for, you guessed it, $2.2 million. To sweeten the deal, Douglas Elliman listing agent Arthur Greenstein says Smith will buy dinner for the lucky so and so who purchases the home.

The home at 15001 Winnwood Rd. was built in 1995 with five bedrooms, five full baths, four half baths, two offices, and a four-car garage plus a covered carport. Greenstein last listed the 10,806-square-foot home in August 2019 for $2.5 million. The home near Preston and Belt Line roads sits on just shy of 1 acre.

“One of my favorite aspects of the home is that it’s perfect for entertaining,” Smith said in a news release. “With a large dining room table that fits 22 people, a media room, and a large game room, this home is ready for the new owners to create their own memories with both friends and loved ones.”

Smith famously built the home as a single man with his future wife and family in mind. In 2000, he married Pat, a former Miss Virginia and runner-up to Miss USA 1994. They announced their separation last year after 20 years of marriage and have three children together. His namesake Emmitt “EJ” Smith, IV began his second year at Stanford after graduating Jesuit Dallas as a star athlete.

He spared no expense, using the highest-end materials possible in the home.

From the listing:

This home is everything you have ever dreamed of in a home. If you love entertaining and having family over you will love creating memories in this one owner professionally designed masterpiece. The rooms are enormous, the dining room seats 22, media room seats at least 11, and a game room large enough for countless friends over for fun. The master ste is a paradise that awaits you for total relaxation with its own open sitting area, steam room, jacuzzi bath, his and hers toilets, 3 gigantic closets, multi-jet shower system, and barrel vaulted ceilings throughout the whole master area. Second full primary upstairs with its own private fireplace, and grand bath. Priced aggressively, for a home of this stature.

In 2020, the Dallas County Appraisal District assessed its market value at $2.293 million. Because the home was one of the first built in the Carlton Snyder Winnwood area, it is the only home with direct access to a well-manicured park. It’s one of the only privately-gated homes in the community, which also has license plate scanners and other security measures.

“So much foliage has grown around it, you really have ultimate privacy,” Greenstein told us in 2019. “You can’t see any of the neighbors’ homes. It has some very nice features that would be interesting for someone that has that level of celebrity.”

In his rookie year on the Cowboys, Smith approached former Cowboy quarterback and real estate mogul Roger Staubach to learn more about real estate. Together they founded Smith/Cypress, a real estate development enterprise that specializes in retail infill. Cypress Equities is the retail development arm of Staubach Co.

Smith later founded E Smith Legacy, a commercial real estate holding company that pursues and consults on infrastructure development projects in under-represented communities. The company announced plans to re-develop South Dallas’ Lancaster Corridor, an opportunity zone in need of health and education investments.

Smith, who played 15 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals, is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. Still! He retired from the NFL in 2004! In 2005, he was inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor with his Cowboy brothers Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, who together were nicknamed the Triplets. In 2005, he was inducted into the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Smith’s home is one of many celebrity homes we’ve covered in 10 years of CandysDirt.com.

Arthur Greenstein with Douglas Elliman Real Estate has listed 15001 Winnwood Road for $2.2 million. Potential buyers must have proof of funds or have bank pre-approval for showings.
