A Home Built For a Builder: This Stunning Lakewood Modern Tudor Has it All

Great homes always start with the architect and the builder.

In this case, architect Brian S. Easley designed this home in Lakewood for Shane Wilson a few years ago. Shane is the owner of Michael S. Wilson Custom Homes. With the combined talents of Easley and Wilson, this Lakewood modern Tudor became a stunning success story.

Built For a Builder

I always say if you can buy a house a builder constructed for himself, do it! Builders generally add all the bells and whistles to their homes, but they’re like dogs chasing squirrels. The minute they find another cool lot, or idea, or design, they are off and running.

So, despite building a perfect home, their families can assure you they never stay. And that’s good news for us!

Wilson was working with clients on Kenwood when he decided it was time for his next personal construction adventure and mentioned putting his home on the market to them. They immediately popped over to have a look and fell in love. Remember, they were still working on their existing house, not just with Wilson but also with interior designer Jan Jones.

“We’d just finished the downstairs rooms and were starting on the upstairs when they said, guess what, we’re buying Shane’s house,” Jones said.

No one missed a beat. The newly installed downstairs furnishings were packed up and moved to the Dalgreen house. They worked perfectly, which is always a testament to good design.

“Classic pieces that are not over-scaled will move with you forever,” Jones said.

An Homage to Vintag Tudors

The 5,822-square-foot Lakewood modern Tudor is a perfect family home with five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a powder bath, and a secondary upstairs living area.

Together, Wilson and Jones beautifully captured a casually sophisticated and relaxing environment. I particularly love the homage paid to vintage Tudors with the arched doorways, beamed ceilings, and window seats.

Of course, every historic Tudor has wonderfully landscaped grounds, so the present owners pulled out all the stops on their Lakewood modern Tudor.

They selected Lawns of Dallas to create their lush resort-style retreat with sensible artificial turf, a tree-lined fence, and gorgeous rose bushes.

Kyle Brinkley, principal of the Brinkley Property Group, listed this beautiful Lakewood modern Tudor 3953 Dalgreen Drive for $2.895 million last Friday. If you hurry, you may still have a chance!
