This Midway Hollow Modern Is All About Simplicity

Share News:

It’s not uncommon to find stunning transitional homes over in Midway Hollow. What is a little unusual is to find a completely angular, super modern contemporary. Especially one that’s not a new build, but wasn’t always there.

What? That’s right. The 1952, then single story traditional home at 3983 Cortez Drive was reimagined in 2016 by the current seller. He added a second story, pushing the size to four bedrooms with three full bathrooms and one powder room spread out over 3,013 square feet. At that size, you can really stretch your Warhol…inspired Converse.

Another thing to note in your cute little brain? The construction was complete on this remodel back in 2016 making it a little ahead of its time. We’re all familiar with the big white contemporaries these days, but back then this was pretty fresh on the scene. Not full Jetsons, but close.

Inside Cortez, the white theme continues. It’s everywhere – floors, walls and cabinets – and creates a monochromatic look that’s clean and modern. The exterior of this house is such a statement, it really just needs a whisper inside. (And that whisper is buy me.)

There are windows everywhere to flood the space in natural light. There are so many windows, in fact, you can keep the art minimal because those framed inside-looking-out shots do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to setting the scene.

That’s another theme Briggs Freeman’s Nora Kutob mentioned – simplicity. The interiors are perfectly streamlined and simplified.

Functional details? There’s a three-car garage and since the add-on was so grand, even though the house was built in 1952, the actual age is considerably younger. The backyard is green and generous and heck yeah, you could add a pool. And being in Midway Hollow isn’t too shabby either. Central to almost everything, this is an opportunity to put on a black turtleneck and live your Sprockets life (Circa 90s SNL, kids).

Kutob and co-listing agent, Lesli Levine, have 3983 Cortez Drive listed at $799,000 and there’s an Open House tomorrow, June 13 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Have you been inside this house? This property is very much in need of some love. The pictures are not at all indicative of what you’ll find in person. It’s exceptionally rough. Very disappointing.
