A Cornucopia of Color in This Lake Ray Hubbard Home

This week’s Inwood Home of the Week is a colorful Lake Ray Hubbard beauty listed by Shelbie McKenzie of Coldwell Banker Realty Rockwall. Why do I say colorful?

Well, two reasons.

2365 Lake Forest Drive in Rockwall

This Mark Molthan Custom Home sits on more than a quarter-acre lot that backs up to a greenbelt overlooking Lake Ray Hubbard. Green, blue, and all shades of orange — those are the colors you’ll take in while sitting on the oversized patio and second-story deck, looking towards the lake.

The other reason I describe this 4,229-square-foot, four-bedroom home as a cornucopia of color is more literal.

I’ve always thought home should be a unique expression of your personality. It should feel like you — not a Pottery Barn catalog. And a friend walking in your home should say, “Oh this is so you.” Now, I don’t personally know the sellers of this lovely home, but I’d venture to guess they’re not the wallflowers at the party.

Shelbie McKenzie, the listing agent, confirms this. “The sellers have loved this home and really made it their own with color,” she says.

But just in case you’re having a hard time picturing your own stuff in this home, the wayback machine on MLS gives us the benefit of a clean slate. Slide the image compare tool for a trip back to 2017 when this 2005-built home was last sold by its original owners.

On paper, it’s a formal dining room but its central proximity and a splash of color make this dining room feel casual and more importantly, usable. Continuing through the home, you can duck into the kitchen here or go the long way to the large and light family room that opens the kitchen. The wood coffered ceilings offer a nice change of pace and are a great reminder this is a custom home.

The kitchen features an oversized wraparound island with dual sinks, granite countertops, and a breakfast bar. Stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator that stays with the home, are included in this spacious kitchen.

The primary suite is on the lower level with an oversized walk-in closet, dual vanities, stand-alone shower, and corner tub. Threee additional bedrooms round out the lodging arrangements.

The home is complete with media room, which includes screen and projector and a large game room upstairs with bar.

Last but not least, this Rockwell home has two very smart investments as of late: a safe room slash tornado shelter and a full-house generator. “Particularly with our predictable weather lately, this is an important feature to have,” McKenzie says.
