Courtney Tauriac Moves to New Beck Realty Residential

You gotta love somebody whose Instagram profile description displays mad word skills. Realtor Courtney Tauriac, who recently made the move from Compass to Beck Realty Residential, describes herself as such: “Real estate hustler. Architecture aficionado. Good vibe contributor. Fitness zealot. Globe jaunting junkie. Mom warrior.” It’s for these fabulous nouns and verbs, and a thousand more reasons that Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans has highlighted Courtney Tauriac as this week’s High Caliber Agent.

Beck Realty is a division of local developer Beck Ventures, founded by Jeffrey Beck after leaving the Trammell Crow organization in the 1970s and now led by son, CEO Scott Beck. Beck Ventures focuses on legacy mixed-use properties like Dallas Midtown, the $4 billion renovation project on the site of Valley View mall at LBJ and Preston, and Trophy Club. Last month, CandysDirt.com brought you details of Beck’s new venture, Anthem Development, focusing on multifamily development.

Tauriac, with 20 years in the real estate industry, joins Beck Realty Residential alongside longtime real estate partner Crystal Gonzalez as the Gonzalez & Tauriac Group.

CandysDirt.com: Tell us about Beck Realty. Though they’re certainly not a new name in Dallas, they’re a relatively new kid on the brokerage block, right?

Courtney Tauriac: Scott Beck recruited my business partner Crystal Gonzalez and myself to launch the residential brokerage entity of Beck Ventures. With the 3,500-acre development of the Town of Trophy Club and the current $4 billion development of Dallas MidTown, it only made sense for Beck Residential Realty to come into fruition. We are building a firm that captures the true essence of our city with its unique neighborhoods and the experiences each offers. Dallas’ incredibly rich history and architecture is one way that story is told and our neighborhoods are just as beautifully diverse as the people that call Dallas home.

CD: What appealed to you specifically about Beck?

CT: Beck attracted us because of their tremendous pride in our city and continued contribution of economic development. We loved the idea of partnering with a company who is pouring their resources locally into our great city and to be a part of something bigger than just the sale of a home. Our team is heavily invested in Dallas and we want to work with a company that is just as passionate about our city as we are.

CD: What client are you the right agent for?

CT: We are a perfect fit for the client who wants a highly-skilled agent who will listen to what’s important to them and their goals; with mastery, experience, and vision we will help them achieve it.  

CD: What’s a commonly held belief in the real estate industry that you passionately disagree with?

CT: That technology can replace a highly skilled agent. The real estate process is full of surprises and often times, hurdles. Our role is constantly shifting from advisor to negotiator to designer, and so on. A savvy algorithm and an unskilled agent assigned to you are not going to be able to navigate the home buying or selling process with the empathy and tenacity that an established and dedicated agent will. We work in an industry that requires a high level of emotional intelligence. This goes beyond the metrics and is about how the client perceived their experience to be.  

CD: What should everyone in the real estate space STOP doing?

CT: Glamorizing our roles as agents as if there is a team of hair and makeup personnel and a film crew standing by to watch us list a home. For the really good agents, it can get pretty dirty. It is not rare to catch our team with a leaf blower in one hand and a Swiffer in another. Our job is to make our client’s homes shine and that involves more than just high-res photography and a sign in the front yard. Clients don’t care what car you’re driving or who you’re wearing. They want to know they can trust you to advocate on their behalf and assist them in achieving their real estate goals. It also helps if you can handle a mop.  

CD: What should everyone in the real estate space START doing?

CT: Answering their phones! We live in such a digital age and everyone wants to text or email but the best communication happens live, whether it’s in person or via phone. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with a simple phone call. There’s too much ambiguity and risk of misinterpretation of tone when the message is typed. Relationships must have an element of human connection and that is something text and email can’t always accomplish.
