A Window to a Home With History in Beckley Club Estates

I love talking to Compass’ Bill Farrell. He always has the most interesting properties and knows the story behind them. Don’t fall in love with this one just yet though, it’s already sold.

Let’s talk about 130 Appian Way. In addition to being the cutest little Tudor on the block, this house also has a history.

Years ago a neighbor purchased it and did a total renovation. As he was cleaning out the attic, he found the original stained glass windows, delicately wrapped in brown paper. He restored those, too, and placed them back where they belonged.

The kitchen has been updated, but the little nook with the glass front cabinets remains. Original hardwoods run through the kitchen and main living areas. Tile in the bathroom, of course.

The bathroom was remodeled and you can tell it was a few years ago, but it’s a nice size, and if the new owners want to come in and give it that fresh, clean look we’re all loving today, at this price there’s still room to add your own touches. 

Out back there’s a corrugated metal fence that’s funky and defines the space, but Farrell said if it were him, he’d add a gridded metal with wood frame. Why? Well, there’s a creek view just beyond that magnificent metal so you’re going to want to open it up. 

A round deck has been added with bar seating and an arbor. Throw a cool canvas tarp up there for a little extra shade. 

The snag on a lot of these adorable Tudors is they only have one bathroom, but there’s always a solution to that. Farrell said he’d wall off a part of the kitchen and slide a second bathroom in there. 

All in all, this is a too-cute Tudor that’s a bummer to miss.

The arches out front covering the porch mirror the arched front door that’s no doubt original. Inside, that same architectural element continues with an arched doorway leading from the main living to the dining room. And in case you missed it, the fireplace is arched, too, with the most perfect scalloped screen. 

Beckley Club is the home to a lot of these sweet little homes so keep your eyes peeled, there might be another one coming soon.
