For a year that will go down in pandemic history, the caregivers at Manchester Care Homes and Cambridge Caregivers have been doing heroic work caring for a high COVID-risk population in a closed-door setting.

That meant they had to be more to their patients than caregivers — they had to be friends, confidants, technical engineers, Facebook translators, and uber comfort givers. Because of the virus, their clients couldn’t see their families. And because they were in charge of such precious lives, often these caregivers had to make sacrifices, too. Sacrifices that were all worth keeping their patients Covid-free.
