It’s the most expensive dirt in town in the MLS, and though she has her own beautiful home and a busy busy family, Allie beth Allman agent Kari Schlegel Kloewer has a dream listing: a 20,000-square-foot French Chateau with enviable drive-up appeal.

In fact, I dare you to find a home in North Texas with better drive-up appeal.

Turning off Valley Ridge Road in the heart of Meadowood Estates — known for topography and thick pockets of trees — a “cobblestone” lane enhanced by 20-foot-tall Parisian gas lanterns and urns leads to one of the premiere baronial estates in the city.

The exteriors are flawless and give new meaning to “manicured.” Actually, “manicured” does not even describe them. The exteriors are curated, nurtured. As for the interiors, the greatest minds in architectural design created an entertainment masterpiece that still feels like home.

This is home for Kari, the home she grew up in from age 10 on, the home where her parents have entertained lavishly, where her baby sister got married, and her children have performed with cousins on the upstairs stage in the huge gymnasium-sized playroom.

No stranger to multi-million dollar mega transactions, Kari admits this one may be tough.

“I have Allie Beth co-listing, for that reason,” says Kari. “She has been my mentor anyhow. Should I get emotional, I know Allie Beth will step in and clear the emotion.”

I have had the privilege of writing about the amazing Schlegel family, of enjoying their incredible hospitality, even scribing their offspring’s homes. There is no other family like them.

So, it was a little bittersweet for me, too, to tour every corner of this beautiful estate and think of it changing hands from the ones who carefully crafted it in 1993, knitted together the properties, and oversaw everything from the first Pavestone paver in the long driveway to the positioning of the roses in Myrna’s rose garden — where Krystal’s fiance proposed.
