This Little Remodel Will Have You Saying, “Mesquite? Is That Really You?”

The latest listing from Compass’ Nadia Fakih is already under contract. It’s a three-bedroom, two-bathroom complete remodel from top to bottom listed for $213,000.

Record scratch.

That’s right, it’s 1,360 square feet of newly reimagined space and it’s just over $200,000. Next question – Where, where, where?!? It’s in Mesquite. And according to Fakih, it’s a hot little neighborhood that’s super close to downtown Dallas and just getting started on transitioning.

Fakih can tell you just about anything you want to know about the remodel … mostly because she, her husband, and her team completed it. Including a 3 a.m. staging to get ready for antsy potential buyers the next day.

Her husband is the designer and in every home they remodel they pick a theme. This one happens to be open, airy, eclectic, and a little boho.

With that price point, they wanted to appeal to a younger audience, and they did it through a series of on-trend choices right down to the fiddle leaf figs in terra cotta pots in the living room.

In the kitchen they went with pale blue-gray cabinets, a bold decorative tile backsplash and butcher block countertops. Plus, the very necessary stainless steel appliances even though the neat freak in me screams WHEN WILL THIS TOO-EASY-TO-SMUDGE TREND END???

Not soon enough.

They opened up the space, obviously, and in the dining nook there’s a vertical cedar planked wall. Fakih said in every flip they do a feature wall – it’s cedar plank or shiplap or something to make the space feel extra special.

Within the four walls of this adorable home, you’ll actually find three. The aforementioned dining nook, the herringbone-tiled wall in the bathroom, and a wooded wall in the master bath.

Keeping with the on-trend, the master bath also features a matte black faucet and – hold on to your cotton balls – a medicine cabinet painted black as well. All that topped off with black hexagonal floor tile.

All in all, we’d call this look ooh la la and I’m sure Fakih would agree. She said there were many, many hours spent shopping for just the right fixtures, tile, and everything else. While it may seem like a lot of trouble, that’s just who this team is. You see, they believe everyone deserves a home with character that’s well designed, no matter the price point.

Nadia Fakih with Compass has listed 1730 Windmill Lane in Mesquite for $213,000.
