What location or area do you primarily build in? What about the location makes it especially attractive?
Alford Homes primarily builds luxury custom homes in University Park and Highland Park in the Park Cities, Preston Hollow including Old Preston Hollow, and in other prestigious neighborhoods throughout Dallas, Texas. Over the years, Alford Homes has made a major commitment to the important neighborhoods, where they build luxury custom residences.
What’s your go-to architectural style? Traditional? Contemporary? Old World? Modern?
Lately at Alford Homes, we’ve been building more transitional-style custom homes with urban farmhouse design elements. However, we build residences with all types of architecture styles including – Old World style (which we’ve built for over 30 years), Formal French, Modern, English Tudor, Mediterranean, Mid-Century Modern, Colonial and Transitional Santa Barbara-style.

Greg Alford has achieved several different advanced certifications through the Dallas Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The green homebuilding certifications include – Green Built Texas builder and Certified Green Professional. Greg has also been awarded the Graduate Master Builder certification – there are less than 1,000 builders in the US with this prestigious affiliation.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the current market? What are you doing to overcome it?
Right now, the biggest challenge in this great homebuilding market is locating quality lots and homesites in the right locations and neighborhoods. In the Dallas area, there are only a few developers building residential communities for upper-end builders and homebuyers. This forces Alford Homes, to work harder via their realtor relationships to find new lots and pockets of land that they can develop for Alford Homes clientele.
