Live The Cute Life In This Old Lake Highlands Charmer

Old Lake HighlandsBeautiful brick and a super fun exterior color palette? Updated throughout, but it also maintains the original charm and character of the house? OH, AND IT FEEDS INTO HEXTER ELEMENTARY? That’s not just a yes, or even a double yes, it’s actually all the yeses.

Let’s take a look at this charming charmer located in Old Lake Highlands. First of all, LOCATION. With Easton you can take Mockingbird and head Downtown or boogie down Northwest Highway to connect with North Central Expressway, I-635, the Dallas North Tollway, and everything else. PLUS White Rock Lake, the Arboretum, and Casa Linda are just around the corner.

Now you’re thinking, “I believe I was promised a delightful color scheme?” You were and here it is – the door is painted a soft red. We debated how to describe it with listing agent Albany Shaw and that’s what we settled on. It’s not fire engine, but it’s not salmon. It’s just a soft red and we love it. Especially when paired with that particular shade of blue. It’s fun, it’s different and it goes with that perfect offwhite brick so, so well.

Inside, we love all the updates, but those original oak hardwoods have our hearts. Everything looks clean and modern, even the original built-in bookcase. I mean, how is that even possible?? Cute little kitchen with new cabinets and countertops and look at that backdoor. Love it. Just love the detail on it.

Shaw also pointed out there’s one room with a pocket door on one end and swinging doors on the other so you can have a party and close off your workout room, playroom, or pool room and you don’t even have to straighten up. That’s the kind of low maintenance we all need in our lives.

Another one of our most favorite rooms is the bathroom. The floor tile is laid in a hatch pattern and classic subway tile in the shower. We’re not mad at it. BUT, it’s those two little peek-a-boo cutouts in the demi-wall that are just so perfect. You know what you could put up there? ANYTHING. Souvenirs from your travels or knickknacks of any variety, but what really belongs up there? Some simple glass vases to add a total pop of color. FUN, RIGHT?

We could go on and on but we won’t. You really just have to check this one out for yourself and one feature you might not notice? That’s a shiny new roof up there. Hot dog!!

Albany Shaw with Dave Perry-Miller Intown has this two-bedroom, two-bath cutie at 242 Easton Road listed for $355,000.
