Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Celebrates 60 The Best Way Possible: A New Home on Turtle Creek

Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, a major independent brokerage in North Texas catering to luxury real estate buyers and sellers, will celebrate a very special anniversary coming next year.

For this brand, 2020 will mark 60 years since the doors first opened at the corner of Lovers Lane and Preston Road as Ben R. Briggs Realtors with a small group of agents to start what would become one of the most significant independently owned boutique brokerages in Texas. Robbie Briggs joined his father’s firm in 1979, took the reins in 1983, and merged with Charles Freeman in 1989 to form Briggs Freeman Real Estate Brokerage. In 2010, Robbie bought Charles out and aligned with Sotheby’s International Realty to create Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

What better way to celebrate a diamond anniversary than with a big real estate move!

Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s is upgrading its current Lovers Lane headquarters with a move to prestigious Turtle Creek Boulevard.

The move this fall makes room for the firm’s growing agent population and pinnacles the company’s 60 years of success, which will be celebrated throughout 2020.

Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s new address will be 3131 Turtle Creek, a sleek, International-style office tower at the corner of Turtle Creek Boulevard and Cedar Springs Road. The brokerage is adding an entire floor to its operation, increasing office square footage to a whopping 22,000 square feet.

“The new office will be a phenomenal space, with bespoke, state of the art offices not only for agents but also our sales, marketing, executive, financial and tech departments,” says Robbie Briggs, CEO. “A scenery change provides the ideal opportunity to rethink various aspects of our environment, how we interact, how we network, how we collaborate.”

Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty is working with renowned design firm Staffelbach on the custom design of its new headquarters. The celebrated firm’s other iconic North Texas clients include The Crescent, Carlson Capital, Hunt Oil Company, American Airlines and many more. The move comes with many luxurious upgrades for the brokerage: more open-concept areas, more co-working spaces, more lounge areas, state-of-the-art conference rooms and private phone-call rooms.

“We chose the space because it upgrades all our operations in one of the most luxurious offices I have ever seen, frankly,” said Robbie Briggs. “We know companies in today’s work culture are laser-focused on offering the best talent in the world abundant extras. We have the best talent in Real Estate at Briggs, and 3131 Turtle Creek is going to pamper them like they have never been pampered.”

Tenant perks at the newly renovated 13 story building include a tenant Wi-Fi lounge that’s available and outside the regular office, a tenant conference room, bike lockers, private lockers and private showers and a golf simulator room. The building provides luxury concierge services one would find at Museum Tower or The Residences at the Ritz Carlton: full-time building concierge, full-time building engineer, personal driver, laundry pick-up and delivery, group fitness and exercise classes, and relaxation areas. It is also perfectly located on The Katy Trail and a short walk to 110 Uptown restaurants. All this in a beautifully upgraded, modern aesthetic environment achieved while preserving the classical aesthetic of the original building.

The Class A structure was built in 1971 in the timeless International Style — a white marble base contrasted with black glass curtain walls . The developer was famed Dallas real estate developer J.L. Williams. 3131 Turtle Creek was one of the first office towers on the predominantly residential Turtle Creek Boulevard.

The new headquarters for Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty also means exciting new synergy among its agents and staff. The new 22,000 square foot space makes room for three of the company’s nine offices: Lovers Lane (currently at 5600 West Lovers Lane), Uptown/Downtown (currently at 2500 Cedar Springs Road) and the Dallas location of its Ranch and Land division (currently at 2913 Fairmount Street). The luxury boutique brokerage has been at 5600 West Lovers Lane, in the heart of the Park Cities,  since 1989 — when it employed 30 agents.

Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s now has more than 425 agents across North Texas, based in multiple offices, including Fort Worth, Southlake, Lakewood and Plano/Frisco/McKinney.

“The new headquarters gives us a chance to elevate the importance of networking and collaborating,” says CEO Robbie Briggs, “of bringing groups together.”

And, yes, the famous Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty name will be prominently displayed on the building — on the beautiful white marble band that wraps it — when the brokerage formally  moves in this fall.

“We’ll be opening new doors and doing exciting new things,” Briggs says, “all in our bold new headquarters, and all with the same commitment to serving our clients that we have perfected for (almost!) 60 years.”
