It’s not often that a McKinney multifamily property finds itself in a “best of” list that includes properties in places like Honolulu, New York, Washington D.C., and Seattle.

But that was exactly what happened last week when the Parkside at Craig Ranch in McKinney was one of 10 award-winning projects Multifamily Executive magazine recognized for their unique amenities. The property is under the Lincoln Property Company umbrella.

Of the 10 properties recognized, some included unique pool projects, gallery spaces, maker spaces complete with tools and work tables, coffee and wine bars, and even a half-pipe skate park.

“A large percentage of today’s multifamily communities are built with the standard pool, gym, and business office, but some developers choose to go beyond what’s expected and create amenities that wow potential renters,” the article explained. “From cantilevering pools in Hawaii to dedicated spaces for hobbies in Tennessee and Washington, the following projects include unique building features that deserve acknowledgment.”

In the case of the Parkside, the use of food trucks in common areas to create a sense of community got them on the list. Two parking spaces next to the community’s leasing center and clubhouse are reserved for food trucks, and a gravel beer garden is nearby to provide seating with umbrellas.  And according to the amenities list on the community’s website, it looks like a fully-fledged food truck park is in the offing, too.

That beer garden, by the way, is a wow-worthy amenity in and of itself, with about 4,000 square feet of space that includes TVs, lawn games, a smoker and grill, and a kitchen prep area. It’s also pet-friendly and has benefitted from xeriscaping.
