We’ve found a Dells District darling in Oak Cliff that bats 1,000 with its big renovations.

The interior of the home at 3520 Burlingdell Ave. is completely reimagined, creating an elegant show home. The exterior is updated, too, retaining its 1961 charms.

Our Thursday Three Hundred has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,458 square feet on one story.

We do love the Dells District, a historic neighborhood in Oak Cliff with lots of stories and beautiful architecture. This home, located near Clarendon Drive and Westmoreland Road, is in the heart of the Richmond Hill plat. As Heritage Oak Cliff writes:

The Dells neighborhood is a small pocket of brick and stone cottages located southwest of the Jefferson Boulevard and Westmoreland Road intersection…Nestled in a wooded area off a busy street, the neighborhood backs up to the riverbed of Coombs’ Creek…The Dells District remains a charming enclave of cottages with well- established trees and an excellent potential for first-time homebuyers.

Some of the “behind-the-scenes” updates include new plumbing, added electrical lines, new roof, and new AC compressor. Less glamorous, but oh, so important.

The exterior is a gray brick and the front porch columns are new. Love the decorative brick detailing on the house. The new front door looks marvelous, too.

Original features were kept wherever possible, like the entryway screen divider. Super retro! Hardwoods greet in the entryway and carry throughout the house, except for bathrooms.

The renovations opened up the floorplan and the living room now is open to the kitchen and dining areas. Lots of big windows keep the spaces bright, as does new recessed lights.

Step into the new kitchen and marvel at the beautiful design choices, like marble countertops, soft-close drawers on white Shaker-style cabinets, and a marble backsplash in a herringbone pattern. A large center island will appeal to buyers, as will the stainless steel appliances.

Nearby is a large utility room with space to both have a washer-dryer and act as a mudroom.

The spacious master offers a hand-troweled ceiling and an ensuite bathroom that is a marble dream, with dual sinks and a frameless glass shower.

The house sits on almost a quarter acre and the backyard feel spacious, with plenty of grassy green space, a privacy fence, and mature trees.

This home was listed Aug. 25 by Beverly Dawkins with First in Realty for $319K, reduced to $299,000.
