The high-end developer Scott Homebuilders is in the process of delivering eight custom homes that meet the dual purpose of providing a luxurious place to live all while staying within affordable price guidelines. We’re excited to show you one of the first ones to deliver and give you a peek inside to see how Scott Homebuilders were able to create such a masterpiece.

The design of the house means that all four bedrooms, and two of the three bathrooms, are on the first floor. As you walk into the home the entryway greets you with a straight-through view to the backyard and those large windows that add so much great natural light.

The open-plan kitchen and living room comes with a fireplace that can instantly make the large, airy space feel more cozy and warm on cold nights.

The granite countertops and freestanding island are what take the kitchen to a whole new level of gorgeous since they subtly tie in to the design surround the fireplace and pick up on the natural light that comes streaming in through the windows.

Spacious bedrooms make up a large portion of the first floor, making it an highly accessible house so it can easily be a family’s forever home should they wish to age in place.

But for someone who wants a little more privacy, the upstairs is a bonus room with attached bath that can be easily turned into a private bedroom. It also comes with a balcony that overlooks the backyard and is big enough to entertain a group of people.

“Both the balcony and large covered patio represent the trend toward incorporating outdoor living spaces into new homes.  We wanted to expand this home to the outdoors. Plenty of space for entertaining, but both can also can be a space for relaxing in the shade during the day, in the quiet of the evening, or even under cover when it is raining,” says Nancy Scott, principal at Scott Homebuilders.

The builders didn’t stop there with the smart design decisions. It is a highly eco-friendly home with a radiant barrier, tankless water heater, and 16 SEER HVAC — all of which helps keep the heating and cooling costs under control.

Three of the eight homes have already been pre-sold, but you can check out this model at 5001 Thistle Hill, Denton, TX on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., and sometimes on Sundays. Or you can call 214-543-7751 to set up an appointment for Scott Homebuilders to give you a personalized tour.

What’s the price point? And if the bedrooms/baths on the first floor enable aging in place, how are the bathrooms designed? Low threshold shower? Wider doorways? Or will the homeowner have to make those conversions? Designs marketed as suitable for aging in place should include those considerations up front in the initial build.

The open kitchen is a great idea, Its simplicity makes it very elegant and the balcony is a great addition to the design ideal for a family home.
