Splurge vs. Steal: Two Dallas Luxury Houses in the Coveted 75230 Zip Code

This is the third installment of a new column here on CandysDirt.com, Splurge vs, Steal (read the last one here). We’ll be looking at properties that offer something in common, but have a big difference in their asking price.  

As any Dallasite knows, 75230 is one of the most luxe zip codes in the city. This coveted area includes storied neighborhoods like Preston Hollow, Preston Royal, and Northlake Estates, and you can find some architectural gems throughout, created by DFW’s best custom builders. It’s centrally located, so a lot of Dallas in no more than a 20-minute drive away, making it a convenient place to live, too.

SPLURGE: Northaven Hills Transitional with over 4,000 Square Feet, a Sleek Aesthetic

The transitional-contemporary house at 7130 Northaven Rd. sits on almost half an acre of prime Northaven Hills land, near Royal Lane and Hillcrest Road. This 1960 home has been totally reimagined with extensive renovations, creating a sleek, stylish abode. Think 10-foot ceilings, huge windows, an open design plan, on-trend color palette, and high-end touches everywhere. Mature trees and and lots of grassy green space make this a great home for kids, as does the fact that it’s quite close to Hockaday and Lamplighter, and only a few miles from Jesuit, Ursuline, St. Mark’s, and other top private schools. 

Located near Forest Lane and the Dallas North Tollway, this house is on the west edge of 75230, with houses set back from the streets on large lots. It has hardwoods throughout, nice-sized formal living and dining areas, and double pane windows. We love the back living area with its painted brick wood-burning fireplace, skylights, passthrough to the kitchen, and vaulted, beamed ceiling. The eat-in kitchen features granite countertops, island, farm sink, butler’s pantry, and stainless steel appliances, including double ovens and a gas cooktop. The master offers two separate walk-in closets — actually, all the bedrooms have that, which is an excellent amenity. The bathrooms leave something to be desired, but they all have decent-sized footprints and could be beautifully upgraded. Find a sweet retreat in the large backyard, which is big enough for new owners to put in a pool.
