This Hollywood Heights Tudor Even Impressed the Photographer

As I drove down the street last week, my jaw dropped, and I grabbed the cell phone to call Dallas City Center Realtor Britt Lopez. I was stunned because this gorgeous, two-story Hollywood Heights Tudor at 522 Monte Vista has only had two owners since I moved here 27 years ago. It was both sad and exciting to see the “Coming Soon” sign — sad to lose great neighbors, but so exciting to see what the present owners have done to this 1934 beauty.

This Tudor has always been one of the loveliest homes in Hollywood Heights, but a total kitchen remodel has taken it to a new level.

“The walls that separated the dining room, kitchen, and breakfast rooms were taken out,” Lopez said. “They gutted it and started over. The cabinets were taken up to the ceiling. They added a new sink and quartz countertops, which are great because of their durability. There was a larger mudroom, but it was awkward and didn’t make sense, so they redesigned it and were able to create a smaller mud room and gain a walk-in pantry. The homeowner made that barn door slider himself.”

Remodeling Tudors  correctly means you need to honor the original structure, so it was nice to see original stained glass inserts from the breakfast room cabinets were saved and reused. After all, people buy in this neighborhood for the character of the homes, but updated kitchens are essential.

“It makes such a difference,” Lopez said. “When you walk in the front door you can see all the way to the back door.”

Two-story Tudors are the exception, not the rule in Hollywood, so when you see one, it’s generally been renovated. That holds true with this home. The attic space was captured to create a huge master suite that runs the length of the home. There’s a cool little room off of the sitting area that would be a great nursery. It’s not pictured here but be sure to look for it when you go to see this stunner.

The 2,468-square-foot home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bath was updated about two years ago. Anyone looking for a home in this neighborhood hopes to score one with a vintage tile bathroom. This house has gold and black original tile and it’s in perfect condition. 522-monte-vista-dr-dallas-tx-1-MLS-15

“My favorite place in the house is the kitchen,” Lopez said. “The owners did a fantastic job. I just want to pull up a bar stool and hang out there. The photographer we use never says a word about the homes he shoots for us. However, when he walked into this house he spent the first 10 minutes ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ over the kitchen!”

Now if you can impress a real estate photographer, you know you’ve got a hot property on your hands. But not for long. At only $625,000, we expect a line out the door when Lopez holds it open next Sunday!

Open House: Sunday, May 7,  1 to 3 p.m.
