Listen to Every Word The House’s Unit 2304 Has to Say

In-Home Wine Room

In-Home Wine Room

(Sung to the Mister Ed theme song)
The House is a house, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a house of course
That is, of course, unless the house is the famous Dallas House.

Believe me, this unit at The House will speak to you. Heck, that wine room slurred sweet nothings in my ear during my visit. Imagine that room … 23 stories off the ground.  This isn’t the entryway (could you imagine?) but in taking over the den space, guests see it before the living room (as god intended).

You may recall my recent dalliance with the Ritz Residences?  Realtor Sharon Quist hijacked me over to this unit at The House that same evening. I’ve got no problem being hoodwinked if this is the final destination.  I mean you know you have serious wine when it’s got spotlights on it.

How fabulously unexpected … and there’s a lot of fabulously unexpected in this unit. The current owner went well beyond the standard House finishes.  This heady home has recently been listed with Sharon Quist from Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. It’s a double unit with 3,184 square feet inside and another 818 square feet of outside (89 linear feet). Inside there are three bedrooms with three full and one half bathrooms. It’s only recently leapt onto the market at $1.75 million.

This is what you see when the wine runs out … Dallas … as big as Gotham … right in your face.  Lots of Turtle Creek high-rises can see downtown …if you squint a little… but you’ve got to BE there to have it engulf you.  Sure there’s the W Residences a few blocks further away (and miles closer to the intermittent snarl of American Airlines Center). Yup, there’s Museum Tower, but it’s actually part of the skyline.  Just that little smidge of being across the road makes all the difference for the view.

The combined units (sorry, couldn't get a "clean" plan for smaller unit)

Both units (sorry, couldn’t get a “clean” plan for smaller unit. They’re sold out, apparently)

If you’re going to combine two units, this is a way to do it.  The one bedroom is essentially the master suite.  The kitchen is gone, the new master bath is flabbergasting and that “tongue” of wardrobes is now part … part … of the master closet.  Let’s go …

House 2304 - Kitchen 1

After all that wine, I need a little nosh.  Oh wait.  The wine room is just for red wine.  See the fridge above?  That’s white stowage. Looking at this kitchen you might be thinking, “Nice pantry space.”  And there is, but what you’re looking at are actually the ovens and food refrigerators all tucked neatly behind fold-back doors. Not every open concept lover wants their appliances on show.

House 2304 - Kitchen 2

There’s something in this picture only your hand can see.  Those countertops ain’t black granite, marble, or quartz.  They’re glass. The only way to scratch them is with your diamond earrings when you keel over from the realization.  All the cabinetry is custom (duh!) but it’s even more custom.  It was all fabricated in Italy, including counters, and brought to Dallas for installation.  Imagine the white knuckles shipping those huge pieces of glass.  (Note: You’d have the Reunion ball as your nightlight for midnight snacks)

House 2304 - M Closet 1

I don’t want to leave the cabinetry just yet, do you?  Above is the master closet.  You see more of the same sleek and gorgeous cabinets and glass counters.  Remember the “tongue” of wardrobes on the floor plan?  That’s them on the right.

House 2304 - M Closet 2

In case you were wondering after peeking at the closet if the current owners were shoeless … wonder no more. If I still had every shoe, from baby booties to today, I’d fill maybe half that.  Nice detail on the chair so you don’t have to hop around getting those boots on.

House 2304 - M Bath 1

Around the corner from the closet is this pretty-darn-big master bathroom.  This is no tiny high-rise bathroom … this is mansion size.  To have a free-standing bathtub like that in a high-rise is pretty unusual.

And yes, you can sprawl in the tub and look out the window at Dallas.  Nice tile match on the curved wall and opposing column, it really ties the space together.

House 2304 - M Bedroom

I left the master bedroom until the end of the tour figuring you’d be want a quick nap just so you could open your eyes to this view.  I’d put the electric shades (which are all over BTW) on a timer so I could go to sleep to the city but not be blinded by morning sun.

House 2304 - Terrace 1

OK, I lied (it’s an election year so I’m entitled).  I couldn’t leave without showing you what an 89-foot patio looks like.  Remember your last cruise and those shuffleboard courts all the kids were fiddling with?  With an 89-foot patio, you could put two end-to-end and still have space leftover for some spectators’ chairs.

If this house is speaking to you, talk to Sharon Quist.

Remember:  High-rises, HOAs and renovation are my beat. But I also appreciate modern and historical architecture balanced against the YIMBY movement.  If you’re interested in hosting a Candysdirt.com Staff Meeting event, I’m your guy.
