Inwood House of the Week: Sleek Modernism, Southern Style and Skeeters BE GONE!

4425 Southern Front

This is a home with an “Omm” moment. It’s so beautiful, I may have to meditate to calm down. I am so impressed with the construction, materials, lines and design we just might have to cut our Maine vacation short (what’s the temp in Dallas right now? I’m freezing!) to wrap a ribbon around this house.

Wrap it up and make it home!

Alex Roostai of Dave Perry-Miller — there’s a change, Alex used to be at Allie Beth Allman — is showing off this sleek stunner by Danes Custom Homes. The builder is his uncle, Ben Roostai, whose work I have watched for years. This is a new take on transitional with a lot of bright whiteness but some very warming wood touches.

The street is Southern, 4425 Southern. Natural sunlight abounds in the home, even to skylights in the upstairs bedrooms/gameroom. But my favorite part is the back patio: its accessed through bi-fold doors and features an automated screen system.

I love Maine, and it’s about 59 degrees out right now… feels great. But guess what doesn’t feel so great? The frigging Greenheads. And the skeeters. Don’t know why, but the mosquitos of the northeast find me unusually tasty and leave me with poufy welts wherever they feast. That’s why you will find me outside with can of Raid in one hand, Off in the other. I bring the nukes. Maybe our skeeters in Dallas carry West Nile, but they sure don’t make you look like Bubble Man. Poor Bubble Man. Right now, I feel like Bubble Woman. And I am adament about having a screened in porch/patio like the one on 4425 Southern in my next house. With all these critters, it could be a life saver!

The floors, the flow, the juxtaposition of darker wood with the white in the living room, kitchen and master bath, the built-in coffee maker, light fixtures, the ceilings, the to-die- for master bath (Alex, I get back to Dallas, you just try getting me out of that tub!) and the room sizes rock. The master is 17 by 20! Also, there are guest quarters over the two car garage, oh yes and room for a pool.

Seeking the name and maker of the hardwoods. Anyone (Candy?) know? Any help will be much appreciated. The sooner, the better. The wood that was available and in-stock suddenly is no longer available or in-stock and we’re looking for alternatives. Thanks.

Thank you. We go out looking again on Monday, so a name, maker, and stores carrying the product in the area would be a better than great start. Appreciate it very much..

    Candy,

Thank you for the kind words and wonderful article. I owe you a call back, I’ll do that tomorrow!

The floors are Quarter-Sawn white oak, they are 5″ planks. I can get the stain from the builder and pass it on.

    thank you again!
