Texas-born pitcher John Lackey is looking to sell his Fort Worth mansion in Monsterrat, according to Hardball Talk and my baseball-obsessed husband. Lackey, who played one season with UT-Arlington back in 1999, went on to play for the Anaheim Angels (where he helped the franchise win the World Series in 2002), the Boston Red Sox (where he clinched the World Series in 2013), and is now playing for the St. Louis Cardinals.

While he often spent his off-seasons in Fort Worth, it looks like he’s selling this mansion, which was built in 2005 and has some truly amazing finish-out. So much attention to detail in this home, with stained glass ceiling accents in the foyer, gorgeous stone floors, fantastic media room and loggia, and a cabana that is the perfect spot for watching baseball. This estate at 9517 Bella Terra Drive is marketed by Williams Trew Realtor Kendall Kostohryz for $2.9 million.

This home is just the place for entertaining. Imagine the parties you could throw in this home! Grand formals and a beautiful kitchen really show off the quality of construction. And while this home is large at 10,047 square feet, the dark wood, curved windows, and textured stone make this home retain a sense of warmth that a modern structure would have to try terribly hard to emulate.

There are three living areas, two dining areas, five bedrooms, five full plus two half baths, and four fireplaces. Whew! You certainly get a lot for your money in this home, which is on a 1.29-acre lot. That comes out to about $286 per square foot, which isn’t bad considering all of the luxurious add-ins, like the wine room and the guest quarters.

The master suite is immense but still intimate feeling, thanks to the warm finishes. It’s exceptionally private, too, and opens to a courtyard where you can perhaps consider adding an outdoor spa. The master bath is just … wow … we have no words because that bathtub took our breath away! This bathroom looks like a scene from a movie, for sure! Very romantic!

There’s one surprising thing about this home: Where’s the baseball diamond? We’re pretty sure the lawn, which is huge and manicured, would be just the size for one. There are also eight garage spaces, which will be plenty for all of your toys. Of course, let’s not overlook the gorgeous pool and spa, which has a waterfall and a slide! What do you think?
