Thursday Three Hundred: 70s Contemporary in Lake Highlands Is Perfect Inside
Share News:
Another great Lake Highlands reno! I am a sucker for a renovated 70s contemporary, mostly because I love all of the cool windows and lofty exposed-beam ceilings. I can just imagine its past life — avocado shag carpet, funky wallpaper, polyester-clad owners, and low-slung furniture.
In this life, though, this 3,458-square-foot home at 10001 Woodlake is all traditional inside, with hand-scraped hardwood floors, ceramic tile, and brand new lighting. The kitchen is brand new — so new that the ovens and microwave still have plastic protectors on the handles — and a brand new bar area has been added to the family room. There are four bedrooms and three baths, which is a great size for a family!
The location is great, too, which is probably why you’re seeing the $320,000 price tag — that and the great pool just outside the family room. The house is just north of Forest and east of Audelia Road in the Woodbridge neighborhood. It has access to shopping and feeds into Richardson ISD schools.
Besides the pool, I think my favorite part of this house is the master suite, which has a super cool arched window. There’s a tray ceiling and plenty of room for a groovy waterbed, if you’re feeling a little nostalgic. The master bathroom has a claw-foot tub, which I love, but given the architecture of the home, it feels a little out of place.
And the backyard has a great little pool for entertaining scads of kids on hot summer days, which considering the neighborhood, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of!
Waterbeds are not what they are cracked up to be…
PS: Great find, Jo! Is it really $320,000?
