Father’s Day is Sunday, and if you’re looking for a special way to surprise Dad and house hunting at the same time, this home will make any father flip his lid!

This Southern Traditional at 6414 Deloache — one of the most coveted streets in Preston Hollow — has a private study full of rich wood paneling and cabinetry, perfect for hanging trophies and memorabilia, with French doors leading to a private porch which has the most perfect little putting green! What father wouldn’t want to come home to this spot for a bit of unwinding before family dinners?

A private listing from Dave Perry-Miller agent Clarke Landry, this beautiful home is marketed for almost $1.7 million and has five bedrooms, five full and two half baths, a master wing and guest suite on the first floor, and more than 6,200 square feet of custom-built luxury. Every detail has been seen to, especially with the amazing backyard that is just excellent for entertaining with an instant-heat saltwater pool and a deliriously beautiful deck that has outdoor acces to the wet bar — a genius idea if I’ve ever seen one!

The kitchen is spot on with a huge island and built-in appliances and a professional gas range with double ovens, all stainless, of course. The breakfast bar is excellent, a way to maintain cabinet space while still keeping the connection between living and kitchen spaces — a feature that families are demanding more and more these days.

In the master suite there is plenty of room for a sitting area, making this a great room for a weekend sequester from responsibilities. The bedroom is a perfect example of the designer paint and wide-fashioned trim throughout the home — a great detail that makes ordinary layouts pop! I also love that there are tons of ceiling fans in this home.

I am a huge proponent of ceiling fans not just to lower cooling costs, but also because I am Southern and I can’t stand to have still air in the house. However, I have rarely seen a ceiling fan in a bathroom, which isn’t a bad thing, but different. When I stayed at an old manor house in Key West there were ceiling fans in the bathrooms, which wasn’t altogether unpleasant!

Still, I am in love with this house, right down to the mouldings and brick and gorgeous fireplaces. Especially the backyard with its amazing pool and huge deck. I just know the right buyer will come along and get bowled over by all of the details, especially that study — a total win for Dad!
