Friday Four Hundred: Lake Park Estates is The New Honeypot of East Dallas, Y’all, And This House on Galway Proves It

I love East Dallas, and I live close to Lake Park Estates. It’s a fantastic neighborhood full of great homes and good people. And this house, well, I just want to let you know that it’s awesome, and if you’re as awesome as this house, then yeah, this neighborhood could be for you.

This house was built in 1950 and then completely redesigned by architect Tommy Nelson, whose name sounds like a professional golfer, but hey, we don’t judge. What does this mean for you, incredibly awesome potential buyer? Well, it means that 9902 Galway has an open floor plan that rivals a house half — nay, a quarter of its age.

This house has 2,643 square feet of awesome, if we’re being precise, and while the color palette isn’t my thing, that’s nothing a little bit of primer and a trip to Sherwin Williams won’t fix, am I right? There are four bedrooms, four bathrooms, all new HVAC and insulation, and new everything else, right down to the commodes. It’s priced at a recently reduced $424,999, a $25,000 drop. The price is definitely right!

The kitchen has some fairly stellar custom cabinetry, a nice long bar with a island that was built for prepping holiday dinners or maybe even cocktails if that’s your thing. (And who are we kidding here? You know it’s your thing.) There are stainless steel appliances, double ovens, a mosiac backsplash, and granite counters.

The master is gigantic at 20 x 15, and the master bath is a decent size, too. It’s a five-piece bath, but the layout is … interesting. Honestly, I have never seen a full-size shower that leads to a jacuzzi tub, but there’s a first for everything. How do you take a bath while your partner is taking a shower? Do you resign to be sprayed a little, or do you regulate? It’s a conundrum…

Because the home is on a little less than a half-acre and the house is kicking 2,600 square feet, you wouldn’t expect there to be a 600-square-foot back deck but, there it is. It’s a great place to grill with friends and family, or just hang out while you’re drinking coffee (or a cocktail, you lush) and tossing a tennis ball to Fido.
