Life In Plano Is Pretty Great, According to Those Guys Who Make All The Lists

Share News:

Fun piece in The Observer by Anna Merlan on something I told you about earlier, how great life is in Plano, Texas. This year we hear that Plano is number 12 on the life expectancy list — so if you live in Plano statistically you will live longer than if you live in Dallas. Last year I told you how fewer people were murdered in Plano, always a nice thing to hear. Anna dug around and found some other ways in which Plano turned up on those “lists” that must draw tons of reader traffic because every media outlest creates them ad naseum. So did you know that in 2008, a survey by Salary.com said Plano, Texas was the best place to build “personal wealth” in the U.S? Then Forbes included Plano, along with Highland Park and University Park, on its list of “Top Suburbs To Live Well.”

So I guess everyone who lived in Plano then should be rich today. You had three years!

But you might be boring: In June, Men’s Health tagged Plano as one of the least active cities in the U.S. Well, at least it is not home to the biggest Scooter Store in the world — like the one we saw down in Gruene, Texas.

And Plano, the men, at least, are least active in certain ways. Men’s Health also recently ranked Plano No. 52 on their list of Most Impotent Cities. How they research this I have not a clue, unless they count refills of Viagra or Cialis, but then, I would think that might be confidential information protected by HIPPA. But all signs point to a calm community where nothing much ever takes place.
