Dilbeck midcentury modernThis quintessential Charles Dilbeck Midcentury Modern in Russwod Acres is going to take your breath away. Wait, what did I say? Dilbeck and Midcentury Modern. Do those two terms even go together?

Yes, indeed they do, but rarely.

Dilbeck midcentury modern

A floor-to-ceiling fireplace, a hallmark of Dilbeck, anchors the house and provides the focal point of the living area. A drop-down screen is tucked over the artwork.

We generally think of architect Charles Dilbeck as the eclectic dude that was inspired by Tom Mix (look him up, my Millennials) to create whimsical homes with stained glass, iron gates, and fanciful details. Hold that thought. He also created a few Midcentury Modern masterpieces. This Dilbeck Midcentury Modern at 5016 Tanbark is one of the most striking examples I’ve ever seen. (more…)

My heart sank when I learned my favorite Charles Dilbeck-designed house had burned to the ground.  An exterior appliance started the 2016 blaze, which quickly spread throughout the 9,000-square-foot house replete with acres of 55-year-old wood shingles, wood siding, and wood ornamentation.  I was super sad for the loss to the family, as well as saddened for the loss of such a significant home … albeit not to a bulldozer, this time.

5444 Springmeadow Drive is a beautifully remodeled home that has tons of great features and an award-winning chicken coop in the backyard.

Seriously, how many homes in Russwood Acres can claim to have award-winning chicken coops? We know of only one, and it’s a listing from Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s Lori Kircher.

This home was completely remodeled and expanded by builder Jim Kienast for a designer. There’s tons of great fixtures and built-ins, a really fun mix of rustic and contemporary elements … and did we mention the fresh eggs?

Our Inwood National Bank House of the Week at 5528 Springmeadow Drive is one of the finest examples of an American ranch remodel I’ve ever seen. It’s also down the street from one of the most beloved American country music stars of all time, Charley Pride. Pride has lived in this beautiful private neighborhood for over twenty years. David Alan Coe also called it home for a while, and of course, Jordan Spieth is just across the way in Preston Hollow.

Beautiful homes hit our inbox hourly, and we can become somewhat jaded with all that gorgeous flying around, but when 5330 Pebblebrook Drive in Russwood Acres — the veritable heart Preston Hollow — came in, our collective jaws hit the ground. Listed by the adorable Karen Keegan, with Ebby Halliday Realtors,  this French traditional, 4,782-square-foot home was designed in 1968 by Robert Mitchell. The style is not only stunning, but also smart. How smart is it you ask?

5425 Royal extRusswood Acres is a gated community in the heart of Preston Hollow, about a quarter mile from that other hot gated community where Jordan Spieth and Hunter Mahan have owned the same house, The Creeks of Preston Hollow. Y’all know that Jordan just picked up Hunter’s house for about $666 a square foot, right? Dirt in The Creeks is going for at least $2 million an acre. So when you look at Russwood Acres, and it’s glitzy gated neighbor which is basically catty-corner, you can begin to absorb the value that is here. I mean, it’s practically a neighbor!GetMedia1
