If you’re looking for a boutique custom home builder with a thoughtful and holistic perspective on construction, you’re looking for Draper Custom Homes. This is a company that connects all the dots with consideration not only for how the structure balances with the site, but also how a buyer’s lifestyle will unfold inside the home and serve their long-term needs.
Nathan Draper founded Draper Custom Homes in 2006. He grew up in East Texas and is a dedicated conservationist and outdoorsman. Although he is a third-generation builder, he began his career in environmental engineering. This has added a significant layer to how Draper Custom Homes operates and how its homes fit into and honor the environment.
An important aspect of Draper Custom Homes is that the team includes family and friends. Nathan’s wife, Ann Jane, is central to the design, planning, and marketing of their homes.
“Home design is leaning toward a timeless look,” said Ann Jane.

Aiding in the design direction are Will and Lauren Clark of Clark Design Studio, who had been friends with the Drapers before they married and before either had started their respective businesses. After moving to Wichita Falls, they kept in touch through social media.
“The Drapers reached out after seeing our Instagram account, and we started helping with design,” Will said. “We’ve earned their trust to be creative within their parameters. Nathan knows his market, but we know just when and where to push the envelope and try something new.”

The Draper team also future-proofs their homes.
“People don’t always know to ask the right questions,” Ann Jane said. “We think ahead, as your family evolves.”
When a quarter of their sales started to shift to multi-generational families, flexibility became essential. Draper Custom Homes always features a downstairs bedroom, elevator shafts, and a 3-car garage. They build large back porches that are already wired for sound, install electrical for roll-down screens, and focus on details that can be easily overlooked. For instance, if a client wants a pool, they can be sure no wires are running underground in the middle of the yard because this is a company that makes future planning easy.

We Build for Our Neighbors

“We’ve always built where we live,” Ann Jane said. “We are ingrained in the community we work in.”
You’ll also see Nathan at the construction site with his sleeves rolled up, actually participating in the process.
“I’m there every day, checking the work so things don’t come up, and there are no problems,’ Nathan said. “We believe in never taking a shortcut and doing things right the first time.”
Draper Custom Homes is also focused on making their clients’ vision a reality, whether that is a soundproof music room or a fully outfitted and claw-worthy cat room, and yes, those were actual requests! The firm has been focused on Midway Hollow for the past several years. They have since expanded into Walnut Hill Manor behind the Episcopal School of Dallas, with a lot available at 10236 Coppedge Ln., a recently completed home at 10128 Coppedge Ln., and 10148 Hedgeway Ln., launching this week.
Draper Custom Homes Latest Design at 10148 Hedgeway

The Drapers’ most recently completed home at 10148 Hedgeway Ln. in Walnut Hill Manor is 6,705 square feet and demonstrates their foundation in thoughtful design. Adhering to a timeless look, the exterior is brick and cast stone with a large front porch just off the dining room.
“People love an outdoor living space in the front of their homes,” Ann Jane said. “It allows you to really connect with your neighbors.”

The home features five ensuite bedrooms, including the all-important downstairs second primary. Design selections include white oak flooring, Visual Comfort lighting, and Thibaut wallpaper to create that timeless look the company is known for. It also offers what has become essential in luxury homes today: two laundry rooms, one upstairs and another on the first floor.
“The family room opens to the covered patio and backyard through a huge slider,” eXp Realty’s Jessica Cazares said. “It’s spectacular. In fact, this home hits every hot button buyers want today from the kitchen scullery, walk-in pantry, and mud room to a dedicated office space, outstanding primary closets, and game and craft rooms upstairs. There is so much bonus space, you can easily add a golf simulator or a dedicated area for mahjong.”

One of the genius ideas Draper Custom Homes conceived is to have the outdoor kitchen tucked behind the patio’s fireplace. And they always provide ample room outside to easily accommodate a pool, a putting green, and plenty of room to play!
“From a location perspective, Walnut Hill Manor is ideal — in the heart of the private school corridor, close to an array of shops and restaurants,” Cazares said.

Exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and leaving a true legacy are the factors that set Draper Custom Homes apart from the homebuilder fray.
“It’s exciting to drive down a street and see something we have built, and it will be exciting for our girls one day,” Ann Jane said. “This is very much a family business, and we take great pride in every home we build.”
