If you’ve ever tried to purchase land to build your dream home from the ground up, you’ll know it’s not as easy as it sounds. Finding available land that’s truly buildable is a challenge. Luckily, Long Cove has a few last lakefront sites in the established Dodd’s Point neighborhood that can be combined to create an acre-plus of waterfront property ready for construction. The lakefront home site, available for $1.75 million, measures 0.775 acres with 227 feet of waterfront land. The adjacent lot is available and can be combined to add a half-acre.

Long Cove townhomes

Back in March we told you about Long Cove’s newest luxury lakefront neighborhood, Henderson Bay, and now we’ve got complete details about the sleek new townhomes being built there by Robert Elliott Custom Homes, starting from $695,000.

Since the beginning, we’ve followed Don McNamara’s Long Cove development as it’s become a sprawling 1,000-acre second-home haven and a go-to weekend spot for many in the Metroplex. Long Cove, located on the clear, deep end of Cedar Creek Reservoir, was inspired by getaways like those of the Seaside and Watercolor communities in Florida.

But this new 40-acre private and protected cove will feature sandy beach volleyball, a slide into the lake, lakeside fire pits, shared play fields, and rolling lawns. Plus there’s an amphitheater large enough to host an orchestra for outdoor concerts.

The contemporary two-story Long Cove townhomes have two different floor plans to choose from: a two-bedroom, three-bath interior lot home that has 2,422 square-feet or a three-bedroom, five-bath corner lot home that has an impressive 3,198 square-feet. In total, there will be only eight townhomes built. (more…)

Most second home shoppers build vacation home dreams on one or two activities — the beach, the lake, or the hills. But buyers at the 505 Ranch Club  are getting three or more activities to fill the lazy days of weekends and turn every day into an experience. The private, exclusive enclave on Cedar Creek Lake, one of the largest lakes in the state, sits on one and a half miles of sparkling shoreline. There is water, there are 505 acres (hence the name) of dense woods to explore on foot, skeet shooting, target practice, trail rides, mountain biking, and unlike most vacation home communities, each home is set far apart from its neighbors, as if you were living in the middle of the woods.

The 505 Ranch Club also offers one of the top equestrian centers in North Texas, with ample paddocks and corrals, all available to owners at their whim but no upkeep. The shared ownership ranch concept marries the carefree freedom and fun of the ranch experience. But it almost completely eliminates the back-breaking hard work!

Still, the best part may be just pure geographical luck: when you buy your vacation home at the 505 Ranch Club, your no-maintenance ranch is only a 45-minute drive from Preston Center. (more…)

We all know and love pro golfer Hunter Mahan, who used to live in the Creeks of Preston Hollow, but sold his home to another well-loved, Dallas-born and raised pro golfer, Jordan Spieth.

Hunter and his family moved to Highland Park. I knew they had built a gorgeous lake house out at Long Cove, our closest heart throb, vacation home nirvana only a couple hours east of Dallas on the deepest, coolest part of Cedar Creek Lake.

Long Cove rocks.

Lakefront Living Looks Lovely in These Three Homes, Repped by Ebby Halliday | CandysDirt.com

About 60 miles southeast of Dallas, Cedar Creek Lake beckons residents for stress-free living in one of multiple communities. Many DFW residents buy weekend houses there because it’s about an hour from the city and makes for a quick getaway.

“This is a huge lake that offers a relaxed lifestyle, but it’s close enough to have everything in the city, too,” said by Shelly Brown-Qualls with Ebby Halliday — Preston Center. “I lived down there for many years and now I live in North Dallas and have a lake home there, which I can get to in about an hour and ten minutes.”

Almost every price point is represented around the lake, from budget-friendly to super luxe, and Ebby Halliday represents some of the best. I’ve found three that range in price from $199,999 to $1.9 million. Let’s take a tour.

Long Cove is hosting a Lake Home Sales Event for Henderson Bay, pictured here, this Saturday, March 31st on Cedar Creek Lake.

It all started with a big idea – to create a luxury lake front community close to Dallas with all the comforts of home, but without all the maintenance. A place where you can unplug, unwind, and enjoy time with your family and friends. That place is Long Cove, the brainchild of Dallas’ own Don McNamara, developer and investor behind Cityplace and West Village in Uptown. Inspired by getaways like those of Seaside, Watercolor, and Horseshoe Bay, the folks at Long Cove bring those memorable experiences closer to home, spanning more than 1,000 acres, and boasting six miles of shoreline at the clear, deep end of Cedar Creek Reservoir – and it just keeps getting better with newly developed Henderson Bay.

Get the whole story on this fantastic new development just a stone’s throw from DFW on SecondShelters.com.
