You know we’re suckers for open houses! They’re great ways to get a feel for how a home lives, and they can be eye opening when it comes to discovering new neighborhoods and enclaves. Though we keep hearing about a slow-down in the market, we’re still getting invites in all directions to tour some of the best homes in Dallas and beyond. We couldn’t help but share a very special open house tour featuring none other than North Dallas’ Preston Trails/Bent Tree neighborhoods.

“This is a great area with a tremendous convenient location, often overlooked,” says Jacqui Bloomquist, who is representing the gorgeous four-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 5818 Preston Fairways Drive during the Sept. 1 open house tour. “Most of these are zero-lot-line homes in terrific neighborhoods — Bent Tree Royal, Preston Trails Fairways, and Cambridge Place at Preston Trails!”

This week, we got an email telling us we absolutely needed to look at a new home on the market — one that everyone can go look at during an open house from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today.

However, we got an early sneak peek of this home at 9317 Midway Road, and can tell you it’s worth every bit — and possibly more — of its $1,999,999 price tag, mostly because it’s just so darn smart. (more…)

We were so thrilled to spot one of the billboards pronouncing a solid decade of success for Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. This brand, which is now under the umbrella of the Ebby Halliday Companies, has a huge market share, owning the No. 1 spot for total sales volume in the city of Dallas at the end of 2016 through this year’s first quarter. Impressive!

To toast this accomplishment and the brand’s 10 year anniversary on Sunday, May 21, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate agents will hold more than 140 open houses where people can come and see the caliber of properties offered by this brokerage and receive a little appreciation gift — a ‘thank you’ for your support!

Our lovely senior writer, Leah Shafer, is sick with a double ear infection today. So bear with me as I try to fill in. Now, I do love beautiful new builds, but I thought I’d bring you an insider look at some of the stunning and fab homes in price ranges all over with our CandysDirt Open Houses of the Week column this week. Every Thursday, we pick five fabulous open houses in Dallas (and Fort Worth this week!) you shouldn’t miss.

This weekend you can catch open houses at properties ranging from a $549,000 soft contemporary in North Dallas to the stunner listed by Doris Jacobs in Highland Park pictured above for $3.95 million. Click through to see even more!

3401 Lee Parkway ext

Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue!

And maybe TWO masters! (Bedrooms, that is.)

Well, now you can have a Park Avenue view in this stunning 3700 square foot penthouse tip top atop The Mayfair on Lee Parkway! Few Turtle Creek condos offer all the Mayfair has to offer, especially THIS home at 3401 Lee Parkway, (unit 2304): floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood and marble floors, 2 fire places and 180 degree views of Turtle Creek and downtown. There is a formal living room and a family room, plus dining room, kitchen and balcony. The home comes with a four car garage space in the Mayfair’s common garage. There is also a swimming pool, spa, cabana, and a party room for large scale entertainment. Of course concierge and doorman service is 24/7.

Munger Place Heights

There’s a little neighborhood nestled between Gaston and Abrams called Munger Place Heights, and the moment you wander in you’ll find a slice of heaven. Trees arch over the streets to intertwine, lawns are perfectly manicured, everyone hangs out on the front porch, and the neighbors not only know your name but they know your dog’s name, too. If you’re lucky enough to nab a house here you won’t ever leave, unless you love ‘em and leave ‘em like Karl Braddick does.

It’s not often you can snap up a flawless Dines and Kraft Tudor in Lakewood. One of my favorites hit the market this month and it’s a storybook charmer. Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s Henda Salmeron has 6914 Westlake Avenue listed for $999,000.

A few years ago I was writing about cute laundry rooms — yes, they exist — and this four-bedroom, 1928 home was on my list. I remember feeling like Snow White winding my way up the path to this cottage in a woodland wonder. The seller is a master gardener and created the lush setting.

When the door opened I felt I’d stepped back in time. Stained glass windows, arched doorways, and a Batchelder-style fireplace.  What more could you want? Maybe perfectly updated bathrooms designed by Lakewood’s own Carol Gantt, who is the only person I’ve ever known that can create a seamless remodel or addition to a vintage home. She’s responsible for the gorgeous bathrooms and that cute laundry room.
