Midcentury Modern
I love it when a remodel gives me the shivers.
Just from looking at the amazing photos of 6265 Towhnill Lane, I got a little tingle in my toes. The current owner has poured a lot of love (and money!) into this gem of a post war traditional in the Meadows, which feels like a midcentury modern on the inside.
This Tuesday $200K, 9907 Estacado marketed by Patricia Aguirre, came to me as I was jogging about my neighborhood. I often pass this little house as I make my rounds with Cooper in the stroller, and when I first saw the Keller Williams sign pop up in the front yard, I was certain it wouldn’t be there long.
Just from looking at the front of 10323 Sherbrook, you wouldn’t say, “Well there’s a remodeled Midcentury Modern!” But once you step inside this Walnut Hill Manor home built in 1955, that’s exactly what you’ll be thinking.
Preservation Dallas has done it again. Listen up, all of you Mid-Century Modernophiles: Cliff May’s award-winning 1948 Pace Setter House design is on display tomorrow.
May, who was a bastion of modern design, sketched up this Greenway Parks abode that was custom built and owned by all of one person, which is almost as amazing as the home itself.
6856 Blackstone was born in Merriman Park. Looking at that furniture reminds me of the house we had when I was a baby, and oh can’t you just tell that this is an original owner home? Designed by architect Harry Hoover, the home features long sleek lines, walls of glass, original cypress — CYPRESS!!! — paneling, and the typical flexible open floor plan: TV dinner in the kitchen or living room?
