Long Cove Lake House Living Just Leveled Up

If you are addicted (like we are!) to real estate docu-soaps like Selling the OC, you have armchair expertise in waterfront properties. Okay, hear me out. We don’t have sand. However, compare prices in Newport and Laguna Beach with Long Cove in Malakoff, and you’ll understand the many reasons we’ve had an influx of West Coast buyers in the past few years. Long Cove just might be our Monarch Bay.
When the development of a luxury second home community on Cedar Creek Lake was announced in 2012, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen that it would become the premier luxury lake community in Texas. It’s so popular, in fact, that many residents choose to live here permanently because the gated, 1,200-acre community has year-round resort amenities.

Whether you are looking for a vacation home or a permanent home, we’ve found a waterfront beauty that will make your heart skip a beat. This 6,780-square-foot home was finished in 2025. It has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two half baths, a home office, a gym, a game room, and guest quarters on just over a half acre.

The female-led architectural firm of Janson Luter designed the custom home to take advantage of lake views from every possible angle. Working with a client who has had intimate knowledge of the building industry for over 20 years resulted in a house that truly levels up living on the lake.
Santiago Iron Works Inc. doors and windows were used throughout the home, which ensured those lake views were beautifully captured. All door profiles were custom-made in Switzerland, Italy, and Greece, countries well-known for their high-end luxury work. Lake houses are obviously designed to flow to the outdoors, and these doors make the transition effortless.

The seller was deeply involved in design and selections. He had the wine cellar door manufactured in brass to provide an eye-catching feature in the open-plan kitchen. Another brilliant touch was the addition of the pass-through bar window, perfect for your bartender! And wait until you see the pantry. It has the same gorgeous green-veined marble as the powder bath.

The principal suite is the seller’s favorite room. With views from three sides, light washes over it all day. The first level also has a second guest suite, a home office, and a gym.

A metal staircase with wood treads by Santiago Iron Works Inc. leads to a large game room with a full bar and two bunk rooms. Above the garage, a separate guest suite is accessible by its own staircase.

But Long Cove is really about the outdoors. The community offers two pools, a woodland adventure park, and courts for pickleball, tennis, and basketball. There is also a 9-hole golf course, a driving range, endless wooded trails, a bike hut, stocked fishing ponds, beach volleyball, and bocce ball. You also get full access to concierge amenities, boat valet, docks, and curated events. It’s easy to see why people live here year-round.

However, you don’t have to leave this gorgeous home to have fun. With a pool, spa, fire pit, basketball hoop, pickleball court, and a boat dock, it’s all at your fingertips here.
