How Local Real Estate Groups Are Stepping Up for North Texas Giving Day and Every Day
Share News:

Today is North Texas Giving Day, the nation’s largest community-wide giving event, but it’s not just about one community — it’s about thousands. This year, nearly 3,600 nonprofits are participating across 20 counties in North Texas — the most in the event’s 17-year history.
In 2009, the Communities Foundation of Texas created the event to encourage people to give to causes they care about locally. The Communities Foundation helps nonprofits expertly handle complex gifts, manage charitable funds, and leverage its community knowledge to increase charitable impact.
Ever since, the day has inspired generosity from individuals and businesses alike, helping nonprofit organizations do what they do best — serve those in need.
Bonton Farms
Bonton Farms is a nonprofit located in the historically African-American neighborhood of Bonton in South Dallas, a community long affected by poverty and limited access to healthy food. Born out of a grassroots effort by residents more than a decade ago, the farm has grown into a model for community-driven change.
Today, it operates more than 40 acres of farmland and vegetation, five social enterprises — including the Market Café, Coffee House, Farmers Market, and Preservatory — and employs more than 50 people. Its mission is to cultivate health, create jobs, and restore hope from within the neighborhood.

For North Texas Giving Day, Bonton Farms’ Market Café is inviting the community to get involved in several ways:
Give back: Contributions directly support programs that empower Bonton residents and strengthen the community.
Volunteer: Lend a hand at either the café at 6911 Bexar St. or at their Dallas Farmers Market location.
Dine: Enjoy a special pre-fixe Giving Day menu featuring fresh, home-grown produce.
Experience: Watch Chef Amber Williams in a live cooking demo showcasing the farm’s harvest.
As of press time, Bonton Farms had already raised nearly $22,000 in advance of North Texas Giving Day.
Every corner of the real estate community has a charitable footprint — with some brokerages and associations taking part in North Texas Giving Day activities this year, while others continue their support through year-round initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and local nonprofits.
