Renderings can give a glimpse, but there’s nothing like real photos to make a place feel tangible. That’s why it’s exciting to see completed home photography for the new Collin Creek Community — a development that’s turning the former Collin Creek Mall site in Plano into a thriving residential neighborhood.

Once a bustling shopping center, the site has been reimagined as a modern mixed-use development featuring townhomes, green spaces, and future retail and dining destinations. Homes from Ashton Woods, Mattamy Homes, and Brightland Homes are officially on the market and selling nicely.

My only question is, when will we stop calling it the old Collin Creek Mall site?

The Collin Creek Community promises to be an amenity-rich community with a pool and community center, 1.6 miles of walking trails, 8.9 acres of parks, and lots of open green spaces to encourage neighborly interaction. Of course, there’ll be world-class shopping and dining within walking distance and office space for when they drag you back into the office if they haven’t already.

The homes are zoned for award-winning Plano schools, including the district’s new Career and Technical Education Center that’ll house a cybersecurity course concentration as part of a recent donation from Toyota Motor North America. Plano ISD construction is underway and scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Collin Creek’s Next Chapter

The Collin Creek Community under construction in May 2024

Centurion American Development Group’s $1 billion redevelopment is transforming the old mall, which opened in 1981, into a pedestrian-friendly mixed-use project. Think “work, live, play.”

The Collin Creek Community is shaping up to be a dynamic addition to Plano, blending residential living with planned retail, dining, and entertainment options. As homes continue to sell quickly, the redevelopment of this former mall site is proving to be a major draw for homebuyers seeking modern, amenity-rich living in a prime location.

I’m so sentimental and I hate places changing but I understand. But somewhere in my heart we are all going to Luby’s for lunch and then Mervyns.

It’s also disheartening to see the Dallas Fort Worth area become so prohibitively expensive to where only rich people can nice afford homes in decent safe neighborhoods anymore. I’ve worked for 25 years providing school nursing services to public school children in the DFW area and have been completely priced out of the housing market.
