Thursday Three Hundred Pitch-It-Out-of-The-BallPark-Yu-Darvish, Original Owner Classic Merriman Park Mid Century
Share News:
1964 was a very good year, I remember it well. That was the year this “darling” home at 6856 Blackstone was born in Merriman Park. Looking at that furniture reminds me of the house we had when I was a baby, and oh can’t you just tell that this is an original owner home? Designed by architect Harry Hoover, the home features long sleek lines, walls of glass, original cypress — CYPRESS!!! — paneling, and the typical flexible open floor plan: TV dinner in the kitchen or living room?
The home engages the gently sloping site as a split level while creating outdoor living spaces. Technically, there are 3 bedrooms, but two additional potential bedrooms on the 2nd floor share an adjacent closet, unusual, usually it’s the Jack and Jill bathroom they share. 2848 square feet, she’s a good size. Three bedrooms, three and a half baths, a study, clerestory windows, A-line ceiling, but is that corner freestanding fireplace original? And good news: there is a two car garage, a real one, not a carport, rear detached. Asking $392,500, she just squeezes in this category, but oh my, are we not so glad she did? Special thanks to Michael Holmberg of Darling Homes for sending this pup my way!

I could move into this in a heartbeat and I am not particularly a mid-century girl. I love this!

Saw this was a new listing the other day. Looks fabulous and the views are very nice and lots of windows to let in light. Admittedly the kitchen was a bit underwhelming, but I wouldn't hold it against this house. I would at least want to see it in person first. Just like some dresses have the "Ugly Hanger" syndrome, some houses have the "Unphotogenic Room".
