Alli Caudle Bush’s Labor of Love: Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Agent Lists Her Knox Retreat

Real estate advisor Alli Caudle Bush is used to guiding clients through sometimes emotional purchases and sales. She just never imagined it could happen to her one day. We sit down with the expert agent at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty to talk about 3510 Edgewater Street in Dallas — not only her own first home but her most bittersweet new listing.

Q: Alli, this is your very own house that you’re selling — after doing a lot of work to it. What’s the backstory here?
A: My husband and I had just gotten engaged, and this house came up as an off-market listing represented by a friend in my office. We went to see it and — although it needed so much work — we knew in an instant it would be ours. We loved the Knox neighborhood location, and we loved that it has private, gated access to the Katy Trail. We also loved the modernist architecture and the spacious backyard, which is rare for the area. We took it off the hands of the lovely older lady who had lived there for 40 years, but didn’t want to maintain it anymore. We promised her we’d take care of the home and bring it back to life. And we did.
Q: Were you looking specifically in the Knox area?
A: My husband and I both lived in New York City for a long time, so walkability is key for us. The Knox area is unparalleled for that. Also, we first met in the Knox neighborhood — literally as neighbors! — so it feels like home.

Q: What did it take to make the house yours?
A: A great deal of patience, a vision, attention to detail, and a great team. We worked with Mohment Architecture + Design Studio and their director of interiors, Ellie Paulhus. Our general contractor, the O’Brien Group, was incredible, too, holding our hands every single step of the way. We did a full-gut remodel, to the studs — everything from foundation repair and new electrical and plumbing systems to moving walls and adding rooms. Believe me: Every single tile and piece of hardware — every element — in this home was thoughtfully, intentionally selected. We also did a full makeover of the landscaping.
Q: What was the timeline for all of this?
It took us 10 months from the beginning to the move-in. We even planned our wedding and got married while we remodeled this home. It was a true labor of love! Although there were some very challenging bits of the process, we enjoyed every second of being creative together — working as a team and seeing our vision unfold. We moved into the house as husband and wife, and it felt so special. It’s the first home I’ve ever owned. As a real estate advisor, the whole experience took my real estate practice to another level.
Q: What do you love most about this house?
A: We love so much about it, especially the significant and rare architecture. I love the privacy — being set way back from the street — and the long driveway that comes with that, which is perfect for all our friends’ cars on party nights. The backyard is our happy place. I meditate in the garden in the morning. At night, we light a fire and, often, friends come over to eat my husband’s infamous cooking and sip wine. It’s so peaceful. That’s the word we’ve always used.

Inside the house, we wanted each room to feel like places in the world we love, or that we’ve lived, and that inspire us. So, it blends bits of Marfa, New York City, and London in terms of the design finishes. We also love that our space has soaring, 26-foot-high ceilings and lofted rooms, as well as brilliant window placements that allow for light to bounce around in a cinematic way, at all hours of the day. We have electric blinds and a Control4 system for smart-home management. We also have an infrared sauna in the basement, for health and wellness.
We absolutely love our life in Dallas, and this home has set the tone for great love and laughs. It’s a place for family and friends that we treasure. It’s in the Northern Heights area, so we walk to dinner, workouts, coffees, groceries, everything. On the weekends, we barely drive our cars.
If we’re not in the vibrant heart of Knox, we’re deep in nature on Turtle Creek. You have it all right in this magical pocket of Dallas. It’s incredible.
Q: So, why sell it?
We hate to say goodbye! It feels surreal, even. But, as life would have it, a serendipitous change has come that is taking us to a new home just down the road. Let’s just say it’s for personal reasons in our family’s future.
THE LISTING: 3510 Edgewater Street, Dallas, $1.995 million
Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac in Northern Heights, 3510 Edgewater Street offers the rare balance of walkable Dallas living with complete privacy. Behind a private gate with direct access to the Katy Trail, this home lives like a hidden European retreat — steps from the city, yet worlds away.

Originally designed in 1986 by architect Bud Oglesby’s renowned firm, the home has been completely reimagined through a full, to-the-studs renovation completed in April 2025. Walls were moved, rooms thoughtfully added, and every system, including plumbing, electrical, foundation, and landscaping, was renovated with exceptional intention and care.
A long, private driveway leads to an extraordinary first impression. Inside, the home unfolds with a museum-like quality of light, where perfectly placed windows allow sunlight to bounce softly throughout the day. Hardwood floors run seamlessly through the home, grounding the European-charm-meets-organic-modernism aesthetic.

The kitchen is the heart — and the showstopper, featuring marble-tile floors, soaring ceilings, and a chef’s suite equipped with double Wolf ovens, a 60-inch gas range, Sub-Zero refrigeration, and Taj Mahal quartzite countertops that rise dramatically into the backsplash. A built-in breakfast nook invites afternoon tea and late-night conversations, while the reconfigured layout flows effortlessly into the dining space overlooking Japanese maples.
Designed for gathering, the home opens beautifully to the outdoors, where two pergolas, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, a pizza oven, a firepit, and a water feature create a garden-like setting ideal for memorable dinner parties and cozy evenings alike. Upstairs, a newly created lofted space — born from dramatic 26-foot ceilings — serves as an inspiring office, gym, or additional living area.

A guest suite with an ensuite bath and walk-in closet is thoughtfully placed, while the primary suite is tucked into its own wing, offering a true private retreat. The spa-like primary bath features marble finishes, a double steam shower, and dual custom closets positioned separately for an elevated dressing-room experience. A rare bonus awaits below: a basement wellness space with an infrared sauna — tucked away for effortless at-home restoration.

Here, everything has been thoughtfully selected. Every finish curated. Every detail considered. This is not just a home — it’s a lifestyle, a sanctuary, and a deeply intentional Dallas living experience.
