Stillwater Capital and WoodHouse to Bring ‘Rural Retreat’ Haggard Farm to West Plano

Breaking ground on a new development is routine business in North Texas. Breaking ground on land that’s been in the same family since before Plano existed as a city is something else entirely.
That’s what happened earlier this month, when the Haggard Family joined Stillwater Capital and hospitality group WoodHouse to officially launch Haggard Farm, a mixed-use development offering a mix of retail and hospitality venues, seasonal programming events, and maker spaces that include breweries, distilleries, and wineries.
Stillwater Capital, the Dallas-based real estate investment and development firm leading the project, teamed with WoodHouse, the experiential hospitality company known for developing the Dallas private social club, Park House, and T Bar M Racquet Club in North Dallas. Together, the two firms are co-developing and operating several of the project’s cornerstone components, including Almanac 1856, a farm-to-table restaurant, and Haggard Hall, a timber-framed event barn designed for everything from weddings and concerts to corporate gatherings.
The groundbreaking ceremony on December 11 brought together family members, community leaders, and development partners, underscoring the project’s significance not just as another Plano development, but as a landmark moment for a property that has quietly existed alongside the city’s growth for more than 170 years.

Among the key components:
- Haggard Hall, a one-of-a-kind event venue inspired by historic Texas barns and dance halls
- Almanac 1856, the project’s culinary centerpiece, featuring locally sourced produce, meats, baked goods, and dairy, paired with hand-crafted wines, beers, and spirits in a farmhouse-style setting
- Retail spaces, developed in partnership with The Retail Connection, showcasing a mix of national, regional, and local brands and artisans. The initial buildout includes approximately 100,000 square feet of retail.
- A boutique hotel, designed as both a resort-style escape and a business-friendly stay
- A private social club, integrated into the hotel and operated by WoodHouse
- Residential options, including 350 residential units and 188 townhome units
- Boutique office space, designed to feel open and connected to the surrounding amenities
- Public parkland, including trails, gardens, and preserved natural areas
WoodHouse says the project will align closely with its broader portfolio of community-driven hospitality concepts that also include Park House in Houston, José in Dallas, Banner House at T Bar M Racquet Club, Citizen House in Oklahoma City, The Beckwith Hotel and Club in Crested Butte, and destination projects in Miami and Tennessee.
“Haggard Farm truly represents the ethos of Texas’ pioneering spirit, which we have harnessed to guide and inspire us to design and deliver a unique collection of experiences,” W. Brandt Wood, WoodHouse Partner and Director of Experience, said in a release. “Our goal is to thoughtfully bridge those values and celebrate the farm’s heritage by transforming into a hub where people gather often as Texas communities have for generations.”

Wood added that the collaboration with Stillwater has been foundational to the project’s direction.
“Additionally, we describe our partnership with Stillwater as a certain alchemy that has given both WoodHouse and Stillwater eyes into our respective company cultures. The final result makes all the effort worthwhile,” he said.
Haggard Farm is also just the beginning. Stillwater Capital and WoodHouse say the project is the first of several they have in the pipeline, driven by a shared belief that the market is hungry for developments that feel authentic, meaningful, and rooted in place.
