I Have a Sinking Feeling This Illinois Property Will Not Be on the Market for Long

One of my oldest dreams is to own a home at the beach. The sound of the waves on the shore is just my little slice of heaven. Over the years I have redefined my dreams. It went from a beach front property to just plain, old waterfront property and it is quickly sliding into sitting in a chair with my toes in a kiddie pool.

This is more within my budget without a doubt. I can get a bag or two of sand to place around my kiddie pool and boom, a makeshift beach if I use my imagination. Turns out my dreams come with a hefty price tag. Or at least I thought so until I came across the house featured in this week’s column. My dream lives!!!

Indeed Pudgy. Indeed.

Now if you’re thinking there’s a catch to all of this, then you must have read my Wednesday WTF column before. For me to live in this house, I will need some arm floaties.

Discounted by $50,000, this private island with “established electricity” can be yours for the low, low price of $200,000.

The true hero here is the listing agent. “Ahoy, adventurers! Have you ever dreamed of owning your very own island? Here’s your once-in-a-lifetime chance to claim a rare gem on the legendary Chain O’ Lakes.”

“This private island spans over 1 acre and sits proudly on Grass Lake, just a stone’s throw from the iconic Blarney’s Island — a local hotspot known for its vibrant bar, live entertainment, boat races, and more.” That must be the local, vibrant hotspot in the background.

Sebastian is the king of vibrant hot spots under water. I think this “island” would not be below him and yes, I mean that literally and figuratively.

Okay, here’s the real knee slapper. “The property has established electricity (condition unknown), and there may be potential grant opportunities available to assist in rehabilitating the island — buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence regarding this.” Oh Bubba, I think we all know the condition of that electricity. My father.

Just like that, my search for beach front/water front property continues. The only small detail is that it is above water.

The absence of interior photos induces cautious skepticism. Mimi, could we alternatively go halfsies on the 10K acres of untouched Belize coastline?

Hey Rabbi – great to hear from you. I think the fact that more than half the island is underwater is enough to induce skepticism. ha ha And I am down for the Belize coastline. Let’s go! Thanks for the read. Have a great rest of the week.
