There’s few better signs that a city has officially made it than Whole Foods Market deeming the demographics strong enough there to plant a store — looks like Frisco has made it.
Construction of a Whole Foods is now underway as part of the first phase of the upcoming 112-acre mixed-use community and high-end retail center The Mix. Located between Dallas North Tollway and Parkwood Boulevard just south of Lebanon Road, the $3 billion project site will become home to more than 3 million square feet of residential property, over 2 million square feet of Class A office space, and 375,000 square feet of retail.

Whole Foods will anchor the retail center, which is part of the first phase of development at The Mix. In addition to the grocery store and other retail space, phase one comprises 115,000 square feet of office, 635 multifamily units, and a portion of a park that will eventually span 8 acres.
“Frisco residents will finally get the Whole Foods Market they have long wanted, thanks to the efforts of The Mix,” said Frisco City Council Member John Keating, according to a press release. “The community has been asking for this unique shopping experience for years, and we are excited to see it come to fruition.”

Whole Foods was founded some 45 years ago in Austin and scaled itself across the United States. It spearheaded the adoption of organic and minimally processed foods among grocery chains and became a mecca for health-conscious consumers, albeit those willing to pay a slight premium. The company grew rapidly through acquisitions and was a strong national brand before Amazon bought it in 2017 for $13.7 billion.
The new store in Frisco will be on the northwest corner of the development at the intersection of Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road.
“We are excited to welcome Frisco’s first Whole Foods Market to The Mix,” said Tim Campbell, The Mix’s head of development, per the press release. “We believe the store will offer Frisco residents high-quality food and an elevated grocery shopping experience.”
Frisco has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, transforming from a North Dallas suburb into one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. Its population more than doubled since 2010, hitting more than 234,000 last year.
The city has also been a draw to investors. In 2024 alone, Frisco attracted more than $1.5 billion in private capital across 30 different projects supported by the Frisco Economic Development Corporation. This activity yielded 1.8 million square feet of new commercial space, over 4,000 new or retained jobs, and 260,000 square feet in leases.
Major projects like The Star, PGA Frisco, and the upcoming Universal Kids Resort underscore the city’s evolution into a significant spot on the North Texas map.
