Mother's Day

“Are you coming over tomorrow?” you’ll almost certainly hear your mother say over the phone.

Mother’s Day is tomorrow and you’ve got nothing. I mean, yes, you’re planning on stopping in the markdown floral section at Kroger and grabbing a card off of the revolving wire display, but “What are we doing?” is the million-dollar question, and CandysDirt.com is here to help!

Mom: “I wish your lawn looked this healthy! Who are you using? I’ll give you the number of my guy.”

What: This year marks the 50th annual home tour of the Swiss Avenue Historic District, so you know this one is going to be good.

On the tour you’ll see “the elegant rear garden of a pure Prairie Style Mansion; the oldest house in the District, another magnificent Prairie; an expansive Frank Lloyd Wright inspired masterpiece; a Hal Thomson-designed French Eclectic confection with Beaux Arts Elements; and a stately Tudor Manor House, known as the Crown Jewel of Swiss Avenue.”

Don’t feel like walking? Take in the tour in style in an air-conditioned mini-coach or in “period-style” in a horse-drawn carriage! Be sure to stop for refreshments and snacks at a food truck in Savage Park.

When: Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11
