White Witch Shows Off Interior Design Skills in this Illinois Home

Winter is just a dreadful time of year. Everything is just gray and blah. Mimi loathes wearing pants and long sleeve shirts. Mimi longs for the days when she can run free with as little clothing as possible actually touching her. Give Mimi shorts, color, and room to run. 

Indeed. Look at this Chad living his best life.

So here Mimi sits, looking outside while we are in the midst of another arctic air cold blast, freezing our tootsies off kind of week. This means Mimi has to put on even more layers to walk the dog. Mimi has only one reaction at this point.

Yes little muppet man, you are Mimi and Mimi is you. What does winter or Mimi’s spiral into winter madness have to do with the home featured in this week’s column? Well, the White Witch could easily make this house her second home.

This foyer just dropped the temperature to below zero numbers. The gray and white mixed with the metallic, squiggle-lined wallpaper has sent Mimi to add a third and fourth layer of clothing. It is as though the homeowners hired the White Witch to do their interior design.

The kitchen has a ceiling only a pimp could love.

The White Witch has worked her magic in the kitchen and breakfast nook but took it up a notch with the neon lighting in the drop ceiling. Trying to add color is admirable but this has the opposite effect. Mimi does love those light fixtures though.

Brrrrrrr….

Two things: wherever there is a television in a room they have the most vibrant, colorful image on the screen. It’s as though they know they are craving some color and warmth but keep talking themselves into this winter castle motif. Two: the only thing missing from this room is big, fat snowflakes with accumulation expected behind any one of their humongous couches.

You gotta give the White Witch credit when credit is due, she is consistent. 

The epitome of White Witch styling sends poor Mimi screaming is the big ballroom-type area.

The floor looks like ice and the twinkly lights look like sparkly ice crystals. This would make a sensational throne room for her majesty but you know who would not like this. That’s right, Mimi. Mimi has had enough and is about to go turn up her thermostat.
