P. Murrell Real Estate Group Annual Bash Is #ChristmasPartyGoals To Inspire

I have a confession to make. I’m a little bit shy about going to parties, especially by myself and even more so when I don’t know a lot of people. So when I got invited to the P. Murrell Real Estate Group annual Christmas party, I was super excited, but I’m not gonna lie, I was a little anxious. Don’t get me wrong, Phillip is about the kindest, most open-hearted person you could meet, but solo mingling is just not my forte. My CandysDirt.com wingwoman was otherwise detained for the evening, so I put on my big girl holiday pants and prepared to rock around the Christmas tree with aplomb.

And I’ll tell you what. Nobody does a Christmas affair like the team at PMRE. If you’re thinking company holiday party/client appreciation, throw that right out the window. This was a gathering of friends and family — the kind you make — and I have never felt a room full of people more happy to be in each other’s company.

Around the holidays there are a lot of events, and our calendars get chock full of this and that, and there are the things that we want to do and the ones we have to do. Believe me when I tell you this was a room full of people who literally look forward to this particular event each year. I know, I interviewed them!

It’s in the way Murrell and his team do business, and who they are. You can’t fake that kind of response at an event of this size and this long-running — and yes, they’ve been doing this for 10-plus years. So let me get to what we came for: gushing about: #ChristmasPartyGoals.

Murrell and his team co-hosted the party with long-time title partner, Jason Ramsey, with Lawyer’s Title, another of the kindest people you could meet. Having partners in the industry you can trust means everything, and Murrell understands this better than most.
“Jason took me on as a new agent before we had so many deals they benefited his own business,” Murrell said. “We owe so much of our success to Jason.”

With a round of toasts (including a signature holiday punch from the bar, also well-stocked with excellent wine), the party was off to a rousing start. A fabulous pianist was on hand to serenade us with carols, and anyone could grab a mic and take center stage. A hard act to follow, the talented Brad Pritchett graced us with a few numbers, including O Holy Night (Oh, he went there!), and the evening leveled up a notch. Elevated holiday karaoke: check.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect, from Murrell’s elegant home to marketing and event guru Terah Clifton’s stunning decor. Two trees that could grace the windows at Neiman’s bookended the space with every dazzling detail in between — from a twinkling zhuzh here to a naughty Santa there. You, of course, expect a realtor to have an amazing home with beautiful things, but Murrell’s home is definitely #housegoals: just as effortlessly and uniquely cool as he is. Gorgeous setting: check.

Chatting with Lisa Peters of First Horizon, sponsor of CandysDirt.com’s Highlight Home of the Week column, and another long-time industry partner and friend of Murrell, I learned a few things. First, Lisa knows everybody. Second, Lisa met Murrell before he was even in real estate, and they’ve worked together for many years now.
“Lisa is the lender for a solid 75 to 80% of our business and our success is largely due to her diligence and integrity on the lending side,” Murrell said. “Lisa makes us look good.”

The evening proceeded with great conversation, tasty treats, sips of wine, and lots of music. Kevin Ellis, one of the agents with P. Murrell Real Estate Group was particularly welcoming, introducing me around and telling me about his work. With PMRE for a year now, Murrell says Ellis has been an incredible asset to the team, having stepped up as a leader during a difficult time earlier this year.

Talking with guests, I got some insight into what made this party so special.
“Phillip was one of the first friends I made in Dallas. He was a friend before he became my Realtor. When it came time for me to buy my first home, I knew exactly who I was going to because Phillip is the best. I’ve been coming to this party for … 10 years now?”
Andrew Baer
“I love coming to this party because I know I’m going to see some people that I only see at this party! Phillip is really good at connecting people. He was the first person I called when my husband and I were going to buy our first home and he connected us with an agent who was phenomenal.”
Party-goer
“I think it speaks to who Phillip is as a person, how he stays connected with people he does business with. It’s more than just a house here, a house there, it’s about building a community.”
Rob Sesser
Warm, engaging conversation with friends and colleagues who are family — now that’s a great Christmas party.
“These people are clients, but they are also friends I’ve seen grow up and start families. I’ve seen them grieve and celebrate. I’ve thrown some of their baby showers, and their kids call me Uncle P. I definitely lean sentimental, but if anything makes us impactful at our jobs at PMRE — that’s the fuel that makes us good at what we do.”
