I Do Declare, This Foat Wuth House Has a Front Porch Worth Rockin’ On

Why, I can practically hear Aunt Pitty Pat gettin’ the lemonade ready for company. Yes, the most gracious front porch at 4001 Bunting Ave. in Foat Wuth is just welcomin’ the neighbors over for a cold beverage and a nice long chat.
The likes you’d see in the deep South, sugah, this front porch. I’m wonderin’ just how many rockin’ chairs could we get up here. The lady who built this pretty house used to have porch swing and loved rockin’ out here. I forgot to check for whether the ceiling was painted haint blue, but it would be an easy fix to make it a real Southern porch.
You know, this head-turner of a house sits on a corner, so we’d be able to rock and just watch all kinds of friends go by. That brick walkway just stretches out all the way to the street, and I think some of our friends would just hafta walk right up here and join us.
Oh So Pretty

The red brick and the columns are so pretty, just like the front door. It opens up into the parlor, I mean, living room with a fabulous view of the courtyard where the pool is. The hardwoods are just gorgeous, and I love, love, love thinking about the dinner parties we could have for the women’s club there. Goodness, and all those windows would just look amazing by candlelight.

Charleston or New Orleans?
And there are so many gorgeous windows in this 4,424-square-foot home that just reminds me of New Orleans or Charleston or someplace pretty like that. All three of the bedrooms are downstairs, as are the four bathrooms, too. The house is just so pretty. The wood floors were installed in June when it was painted inside the color of fresh milk.

Upstairs is what we would call a bonus room. Now it could make a fantastic office, but that nice Realtor Kelly McLean told me that a grandmother could make it a bunk room for all the grandbabies. Just like the sorority house sleeping porch! I think I’d just go ahead and make it my air-conditioned storage space for the Christmas trees and all those pumpkins I pull out this time of year.
I almost forgot. This beautiful house is located in the most darling neighborhood. It’s just minutes from River Crest Country Club, the cultural district with all those museums, and the shopping on Camp Bowie.
Let Me Tell a Story
Now here’s a cute story I want to tell. The house was built in 1988 — which does make it much newer than most of the other houses ’round there — and the backyard pool was first a precious lil Koi pond. Well, one year there was an unreasonable cold snap. Foat Wuth’s Japanese Garden, and all the Koi fish met with a tragic demise. The homeowner of this very home helped restock the Japanese Garden with fish from her own pond! Aren’t Foat Wuth people just the nicest?

This house is so full of stories, because as many as five generations celebrated there at one time. I can just imagine all the stockings hung on the fireplace, can’t you? Southern hospitality at its finest.
Yes, this house would be mighty special for porch-sitting, family dinners, and a quick dip in the pool. I do think porch-sitting would be the best part. Or maybe the price. The price might be one of the best parts, too, because, honey, they just dropped it down to $1.175 million. It’s a lot of house, and you can’t really put a price tag on all this Southern charm.
“It has a very relaxed, comfortable feel,” the Realtor said. “You would have a gracious, one-story home in a really good location and that’s a really hard thing to find.”
