Monticello Mid-Century Modern With Space to Spare

If Fort Worth’s tony Monticello neighborhood was on a homebuyer’s shopping list, there’s plenty of gorgeous homes to consider.

If that same homeowner wants a one-story home in that same fashionable zip code of 76107, then good luck. Like looking for a four-leaf clover — it’s not impossible to find, but it ain’t gonna be easy.

“It’s a rarity,” said broker Ashton Theiss of The Ashton Agency. Her Monticello Midcentury Modern listing is located within the confines of this sought-after neighborhood and is on the market for a great price.

A Monticello Midcentury Modern on a Great Lot

The 4,572-square-foot home sits on more than a quarter of an acre, allowing the house to sprawl its four bedrooms and four bathrooms across a single story. In this long-popular neighborhood, houses of this size are usually two-story construction.

“For Monticello, this is an oversized lot,” she said. “For a one-story to have much square footage and still a substantial yard area, this is a rarity. In my opinion to have more than 4,500 square feet and still have that yard space, you just don’t see that in Monticello.”

The home’s expansive living areas, all on one level, make this house a rarity.
This Fort Worth home would be ideal for displaying an art collection.

A Nod to The Past That Lives For Today

Built in 1952, the Midcentury Modern home has been remodeled within the past 10 years. While remaining true to its architectural beginnings, the house has been brought into the new millennium.

“There were some changes that had to be made,” Theiss said, mentioning evidence of a banana tree that once grew within the home’s walls had been removed. “It was made with some more contemporary finishes, and while it is more contemporary, there are elements of midcentury that were still maintained.”

The home’s updates are respectful of its 1950s architecture.
The home’s patio is ideal for entertaining.

Glass partitions between the house’s two main living spaces, plus skylights and windows, retain the Midcentury Modern feel. Striking wood-planked and steel-beamed vaulted ceilings and a see-through fireplace give the house a distinctive look.

The wall space in the two living areas would offer an art collector incredible areas to display artwork, Theiss said.

The gourmet kitchen couples waterfall quartzite countertops with modern cabinetry. The breakfast nook opens to the backyard, ready for entertaining with a deck and a putting green. The house essentially boasts two primary suites, both with baths and dual sinks. One bedroom features French doors that open to the yard.

“It’s a really cool layout,” Theiss said, adding that all the bedrooms sit on the perimeter. “It brings everybody into the core of the home to celebrate and come together in the space.”

Broker Ashton Theiss of The Ashton Agency has listed this Monticello Midcentury Modern at 3401 Dorothy Lane for $1.275 million.
