We have the scoop on this coming soon listing, which will be ready for showings Thursday of this week. In the meantime, let’s ogle the photos from when it was featured on Houzz.com. But that’s not the only place this home in East Dallas’ Peninsula neighborhood has had the spotlight.

According to owner and designer Chase Corker of Corker Designs, this home has also been the location of a Pier1 photoshoot and a recent Angi’s commercial shoot. You hear that, future owners? Additional income as a photoshoot location. It’s every homeowner’s dream.

Also a dream? The fact that I said Corker is both owner and designer. When you hear that combination, the only natural response is “I’ll take it.” That should be followed by “Here’s my bank account number, my PIN, and my firstborn if that’s something you’re interested in.”

Hold up — let me stack this one a little more — it’s in the Peninsula. That’s the neighborhood near Bath House Cultural Center, The Corinthian Sailing Club, and Dreyfuss Club Point that gives you White Rock Lake practically in your front yard and sunset views best enjoyed in “Heaven,” which is what the owners call the stone seating area that could not be more appropriately named.

It’s All in The Details in The Peninsula

Corker took a modest 1940s cottage and the original foundation, then added a few twists and many careful details.

Now it’s a ‘modest’ farmhouse with exposed rafters, a metal roof, reclaimed and new white oak floors, and large wood-clad windows.

Views were a huge consideration when the house was designed. It now has views through the house to the yard, connecting the home to the neighborhood and nature. The lot is impeccably landscaped and again, has ample access to lake views and sunsets.

Corker said his biggest challenge is choosing the spot for morning coffee or sharing an evening cocktail. On any given day, it’s the room with the big window looking out onto the corner of the lot, the living room with the big window looking out into the backyard, the old-style screened back porch, or outside under three magnificent old trees.

The Apple And The Tree

In fact, his favorite place is the large shop porch, with its view of the back of the house. Especially when his daughter, Olivia, stops by.

Olivia was in college when COVID-19 hit. She took up welding and has never looked back. Not unlike every member of this family, she’s incredibly talented. That stair railing is all her. JAW. DROP.

Now, back to the house.

Compass Real Estate’s Catherine Blevens said the sellers had to cut down a pecan tree during construction and they didn’t want it to go to waste. Corker picked up the story and said, that’s right, they hauled it up to the Oklahoma border where it was slabbed, dried for a year, and ultimately repurposed for open shelving, cabinetry adjacent to the cold-rolled steel fireplace, and that work-of-art countertop in the powder room.

Saving The Planet in Style

Along the same lines of repurposing the pecan tree, Corker said they added a 7,000-gallon water cistern to capture and reuse rainwater. He said the home’s landscape benefits from about 80,000 gallons of water a year supplied by the water tank for the yard.

The company they worked with is Rain Ranchers and that’s their entire mission, to reduce the use of water on our overpopulated little Earth.

Corker said one of the other things he kept in mind when designing the home was style. He wanted to create spaces that would be comfortable with both sleek contemporary furniture or farmhouse cozy style. He nailed it.

You can see it for yourself starting March 21 or during an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23.

Blevens’ listing at 9401 Peninsula Drive is coming soon to MLS for $1.4 million.
