This South Dallas Home Is a Slice of Hill Country Right Here in the City

Not that long ago, Dave Perry-Miller’s Jamie Buck was looking for a personal home for him and his husband, Eric Ramirez. They wanted something spacious, and they wanted new construction, so they set their sights on Celina. The snag? Everyone they knew and, well, everything they did, was in Dallas. BUT, they were determined to live large so they pushed those fleeting “Should we’s???” aside and they persevered.

Then, one day Buck was searching homes for his clients, and he came across this one near I-20 and Spur 408. It was gorgeous, huge, newly constructed, and an easy fifteen-minute drive from Downtown and Uptown. Curiosity piqued, Buck showed the home to Ramirez who said nonchalantly, “You should check it out and if you think it’s worth it, I’ll take a look.” HA.

When Buck arrived at 5106 Cliff Haven Drive, he immediately called home and told Ramirez he HAD to get out there. When Ramirez arrived, it was a done deal. He loved it. Loved the privacy of the neighborhood, the way it felt so removed from the city, but so posh at the same time.

A Double Oasis Right Here In Dallas

Buck said this area is literally sliced right out of the Hill Country. Gentle rolling hills, mature trees, and custom estates all around. It’s peaceful, it’s quiet, it’s the city secret you’ve been looking for. Dave Perry-Miller’s DeCarla Anderson grew up out there. She calls it the Dallas’ Best Kept Secret. It’s incredible and apparently the word is getting out. UT Southwestern just completed construction on a massive facility, anchoring the dramatic change the area is expected to undergo.

Once Buck and Ramirez moved in, they took an already exceptional home and managed to elevate it even more. I mean they did it all. Let’s start with the thirty solar panels added that cut the electricity bills in half. Then, we’ll move to the most incredible oasis, the backyard.

Use The Pool Chiller To Keep It Cool All Summer Long

Buck and Ramirez added an oversized resort-style swimming pool with an infinity hot tub, three waterfalls, heater, and a chiller. Then they surrounded the sparkling pool with a cool-to-touch limestone deck, landscape, and hardscape including three fire pots. They carved a dog run out of the massive backyard and added premium artificial turf. They leaned in on the resort vibes and installed “a custom-designed western cedar board on board fence with arches, kickboard, cap and multi color changing lights that are beautiful at night.” Ahhhhh, night swims in Texas under the stars. The freaking best!!

Seriously, this home has everything you could ever dream of and now you have a chance to see it in person. Dave Perry-Miller’s Jeff Jean has 5106 Cliff Haven Drive listed for $965,900. There’s an open house today, Saturday, Sept. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m.
