Multiple choice question:

A. Want to meet a friend for a beer?
B. Want to check out the latest blockbuster?
C. Want to vist a fast-growing suburb?
D. All the above

The answer is D, friends. Flix Brewhouse, a unique cinema-brewery concept, is scheduled to open in mid-September at The Shops at Broad in Mansfield. Expect award-winning craft beer to be enjoyed amidst the fall blockbusters, said company CEO Chance Robertson. The Mansfield Flix Brewhouse is the newest in the company’s line of successful ventures, and joins a growing list of area projects.

“Why not?” Robertson said, when asked why the suburb on the southern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex was chosen. “Mansfield is a wonderful growing community that we thought we could come in and support with Flix and our brewery. When we look at the demographics, Mansfield just jumped off the page, and we can’t wait to be a part of the Shops at Broad.”

Flix Brewhouse Plays The Waiting Game

Now there happened to be a wait for this newest Flix Brewhouse location. The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in some slow-downs to the initial schedule, but now the company has secured a 15-year lease for nearly 40,000 square feet at The Shops at Broad. The location is key—sitting at the corner of U.S. Highway 287 and Broad Street, the new Flix Brewhouse will face what is to be the first Tarrant County H-E-B grocery store.

Robertson thinks customers will be happy with what his company is bringing to Mansfield.

Cheers For Beers!

“Who doesn’t love a good craft brew?” he said. “We are an award-winning brewery. We just won the second-best brewery at the U.S. Open Beer Championship.” Robertson was proud to note Flix Brewhouse came away with three gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Every Flix Brewhouse always serves its “Core 4 four” beers — 10-Day Scottish Ale, Nebulas Hazy IPA, Luna Rosa Wit, and Lucha Libre Mexican Lager. In addition, three to five Flix beers will be on tap, plus other local craft beers because Robertson said he likes to support his beer-brewing friends. The menu will include a full bar plus food that includes pizza with dough made in-house.

Flix Brewhouse was launched in 2011 by Allan Reagan, the current executive chairman, and the late Walt Powell in Round Rock. The growing company has expanded to nine locations in Texas, Iowa, Indiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Attracting the company to The Shops at Broad was important, according to John Hutchinson, co-chief executive officer at Trez Capital, which owns the development.

“The Shops at Broad is showing strong tenant demand and interest as the city is becoming a new hot spot for entertainment,” Hutchinson said.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Some special events are planned in September for the theater’s soft opening, with a grand opening kickoff scheduled in October when more blockbuster movies are expected to be released. Details will be posted on the Flix Brewhouse website, Robertson said.

The cinema’s delay in opening did have a positive twist. The Mansfield location will open with a new prototype theater, outfitting all nine theaters with state-of-the-art amenities. Parabolic screens, laser projection, updated audio, reclining seats, and pivoting tabletops will be standard in each theater.

“What we really focus on is the guest experience,” Robertson said. “It’s always top of mind. We want our customers to feel at home. It’s elevated by food and beverage, but most importantly, it’s the hospitality at Flix Brewhouse.“
